You have to remember a good portion of our Jeeps are street queens that will never see dirt or gravel, let alone trails or rocks. Mine is mostly going to be road as a DD but may see some light trails. While I would never never do this to my truck it's perfectly in line with what some others want. I hate it, but nothing against the company. They're in the business of making tires, no one said those tires were specific for a Jeep or Gladiator, it just happened to fit the size of that rim that someone trashed the truck with. But I guess if you want to hate them go for it :P
Hmmm, I think you misunderstood my post....

I never said anything about the Gladiator, Or the personal choices of someone who would drive such a vehicle.

I'm in complete agreement with the perspective of "It's your Jeep. do what you want with it". Hell I lifted my Gladiator and put 37's on it, and it will primarily be my wife's daily driver for the next five years before it sees any real trail use, it coulda done that at stock height on stock tires, so in that sense, my choice is just as silly.

My gripe was with tire companies that have built a reputation on the off road prowess of their tires (Especially Interco) making an 'offroad' tire that is totally unsuitable to the purpose. On top off that, I didn't even say they shouldn't make them, or that they shouldn't make a profit by doing so. I said I lost respect for them because they did.

No, I was talking about you losing respect for them lol. My rather long-winded reply was moreso of the point that most tire companies diversify their portfolio. While they may be known for 1 thing they have other divisions that make tires for other areas. I was thinking things like Firestone or Goodyear, sure most people think of them for road cars or maybe offroad, but what about racing, their military divisions, or even their aeronautics tire divisions? All I was getting at :) Not mad at your thoughts or opinion, just trying to understand it better.

I think we're actually almost of the same opinion on this...

Interco Makes Drag Slicks, Nitto Makes all kinds of Tires...

But when they make a tire and call it a "Mud Terrain", and then give it 35 percent aspect ratio, It's like they've made a croc slipper, and called it a steel toed boot. I wouldn't respect a company that did that, and it would be dangerous to expect it to work like one.

If you try and use one of these tires as you would a normal m/t, it's inability to form around terrain/rocks and provide sufficient traction could be dangerous, and if you air it down like you would a Mud terrain, You would certainly do damage to you're $4000 rims. I don't respect a company that creates something that is labeled for something it can't do.

NItto and Interco both make tires that are appropriate for that type rim, and you can find them on all kinds of 'Donks', (which I actually do like some of, I really like the looks of a Crown Vic lifted and on 24's).

All I'm saying is, make products that are safe and appropriate in any given size, or lose my respect, and honestly, I doubt either of these companies really value my respect anyway ;)...

I gotcha now, I thought you just meant you didn't like they made that tire. Didn't know those nasty things were actually branded as offroaders. Ya, that's dumb. OK, same page now.

Looks like the trend in North Carolina is less tire more wheel. Here's another one, not as bad as the first one but riding on 26's, still SMH, pavement princess. Why not throw some 18's on it on 40's, would look way better.

Says they paid $8500 for the wheels and tires, I could get some 17 or 18 or even 20's on 40's for less and probably still be able to regear. Sport S with 10,000 Miles on it can be yours for around $50,000:clap:

This, I'd drive this. This is how I like them. Less wheel more meat. Anything more than 20's and it's waste IMO

Well if we want to get technical, M/Ts are supposed to have a rim that is no more that 1/2 the diameter of the tire.. So a 17" rim should have 35s, 18" should have at least 36, and 20" would need at least 40s

IF that abortion is real... The person who designed and built it needs to suck-start a revolver.
6 times
Many years back I seen a abortion like the second one done to a Rubicon TJ they removed the front axle even full hydraulic suspension the clown that had it done couldn't keep it from leaking oil the traded it in to a dealership at major loss the only thing it was good for after what was done to it was some parts fenders the tub had been cut it sold at auction for dirt. Back in 90s when I seen a street car "lifted" I thought that was ok for them if all the other required mods are done. Not for me but ok. Now the dumpster fire s### I see driving around where the a## clowns can't even turn the wheels and make a regular turn piss me off. Which go's for any vehicle done that way. I don't even want to think about the clowns lifting front of trucks and lower the back end.... Head lights in sky they can't see over the hood. Then hang some oversized shackle or "truck nuts" from the receiver hitch.:headbang:
