too funny, if you are talking about the Corporation, I agree. The Dealership, no way! Invoice is $41,441 Hold back $1212, which most dealers don't count as profit as it is normally used for day-to-day operations. They also don't pay a commission to salespeople on holdback. $6343 rebate. So, they are $6414 under their "cost" if that is real.
What you specify is true however, Stallantis is assisting these dealers with funding to move the older inventory otherwise, these dealers could not and would not discount as such. Plus, these dealers are getting murdered in dealer flooring costs (dealer inventory financing) with many already approaching north of 400 days and even more with leftover 2023's. Did I mention to all that lot rot should be addressed if acquiring one of these 300-500 day in inventory units? Things like brake rotors, main & aux. batteries, tires starting to age out, look close for possible sun/pollution damaged factory paint, to name a few.

Agree with everything you said but Stellantis for sure is not supporting these dealers with old inventory other than the rebates. The rebates are the only thing dealers are receiving to help them move out units, old or new. There is no volume bonus or anything else like that for years now.

I bought a 2023 Gladiator in October 2024 with 19k miles for 35k. Rather than cry the blues over this, I see it a bit differently. I searched for a Gladiator with all the options I wanted and got all but one. I’m happy with mine. I wouldn’t be with a strictly base model. I gotta say, I love mine. My regret is not buying one sooner.

I just started considering a Gladiator to replace my 4 door Rubicon, and found a number of loaded Rubicons for $45k. Found a dealer with a fully optioned 2024 Rubicon in White and gave them my money. It doesn’t have a bumper that allows me to tow it behind the motorhome (we are 2,000 miles from home), so it’s being shipped to the house and we will finish our trip towing the 4 door.

I had found several suitable rigs in Phoenix, Arizona, but saved another $4k buying in Dallas. Dealer location didn’t matter since it was being shipped home. I couldn’t believe seeing a 30% discount off sticker! This will not help the used market…

While inquiring about a new JT out of Florida that had similar discounts, they specified that the trade must be 2017 or newer and have <75K miles for the trade in spiff to be in play. Some or most of these type of blow-out discounts also requires for one to go through their financing as well. You will realize that most, if not all of these too good to be true advertised prices usually end up quite a bit more however, if pushed a bit, you can come out way better than what you could a few months ago. One can check on Cargurus for most of these vehicles to where they will display how many days the vehicle has been in inventory. I've seen many 2024's pushing nearly 400 days. These dealers must be getting murdered with flooring plan costs (dealer inventory financing). It is of my belief that if one uses some of these subtle reminders and they sense you are serious, a better deal can be had but, I doubt the final price will be quite as low as their stipulated posted price but possibly a good deal after all.
On mine, they ate the trade-in allowance, they ate the dealer discounts and enhancements except for the loan which was free without a payoff penalty. I ended up at about 33% below invoice. The Rubicon had been on their lot for about 8 months so they were hungry...

Great job, bro! Oh yes, it's all about competent & knowledgeable negotiating skills tied together with the dealer's desperation to move the iron that is most likely killing them from the inside out with retention costs. "wink"

I’m with you on that! I paid $55K for a black Mojave X optioned exactly as I wanted. The same dealership has a Mojave X without options that they have listed for $48,900. But a nationwide search for what I wanted gives no results now. I’m glad that I bought when I did.

These Shawnee dealer's advertised prices are available at some dealers across the country. Un fortunately still high for most of us that want a JEEP for more fundamental vehicle. Which also becomes a more serviceable vehicle to a larger base of owners. Instead, Gladiators and Wranglers have been turned into something akin to factory-built Cadillac's, even in the base models.

I will never see this happen, but my preference would be the factory makes the Gladiators and Wranglers without cushy comforts. Envision these going back to basics. Like a work or military vehicle. Lose the power seats, leather seats, power windows & door locks, AC, wide screen entertainment "info systems", LED lighting and all electronics that make decisions for the driver. This getting your dander up? I'll explain myself. And please know I'm not being hardline on this Novel length of words. Just a concept. -

Dealer sales tactics are widely, still the same. Typically a young and commonly recently hired person which in my dealer visits, seem to have little real knowledge that snares you, recites features, questions to us, and tries to get us to take a drive. Driven or not, this person in short order, hands us over to someone in the office whose job is to nail us for as high a price they can. Hey, its a profit-maximus driven operation. Because for one thing, many of the trade-ins have hidden problems that might have been neglected to tell the dealer about. Now that we have been shuffled onto this Sales Manager, now it is his or her game to get the most without giving up too much. Fast with numbers, they can vary the amount of what they will give us for a trade-in, dependent on what you are asking (demanding?) from the dealer. Right? Something like this. Uggh. All of this could be so simple and done in one hour. Just not through an typical dealer operation.

Eventually we get shuttled over to the paperwork & money handler to offer a lifetime warranty at an inflated price. We can get these factory or aftermarket warranties after our new vehicle purchase so you can politely deny any add-ons. A few hours into the game now, right? Are we having fun yet?

In my line of thinking, all new JEEPS are sold factory direct. A Kiosk of sorts replaces the dealership, manned only by a few, factory salaried people that have equal responsibility to display one each of higher end models that are fully loaded. We can tell ourselves that a Sport won't ride like a Rubicon. True! But then with all of the permutations of suspensions and tire combinations on the lot today; we are not going to really realize a valid sample of drive our own daily driving usage and realize their true abilities in wind, poor road maintenance rain/snow/sunny day on all the pavement rides possible. Never mind all manner of off-roading.

We can walk around them, sit in them and even rent, yes rent the GPS equipped vehicle for a 30-minute test drive by ourselves, with credit card Authorization for $2,000 and a mandatory copy of our current & valid driver's license.

An authorization hold from the CC company that has ascertained we are good for at least this amount of funds, is a temporary hold placed on our card to ensure that the $2,000 can actually be paid, when we haven't come back to the dealer within our test drive time allowance. Obviously, there would be some grace time added to the thirty minutes, like let's say, 1 hour. If the Kiosk person hasn't seen our return. Without a valid emergency or Kiosk fuel level wasn't maintained, the $2,000 authorization is processed as a legitimate charge on the CC account, and local law enforcement notified of a stolen vehicle. Any debate about this is not handled by the Kiosk employees of the factory. Customers must take up any recourse directly with the factory

Getting back to the purchase direct to factory, you then process your order at home, office, parked at McDonalds, etc. Fixed price, period. Unless factory runs a special as a Manufacture Advertised Price, aka MAP price. No dealer or in this case, Factory satellite Kiosk smoke and mirrors pricing. No trade-in. You sell your call to Tom, Dick, Harry or Sally or whatever other way you sell anything on your own. No more hiding that problem from the dealer that doesn't happen until Old Paint is driven farther and longer than the dealer test drive assessment.

Yeah, hardball, but fair, right? Difficult to do, because you were depending on the $12,000 trade in that the dealer only will give you $8,000 as an example, to get the new buy amount down. Fair is fair. People will be less likely to stick a local buyer of your old ride than hoping they can hide issues on a dealer trade-in. Keeps the dealers having to be crafty on how they sell the new vehicles. Circle of life, sort of.

Factory builds base models only. Period. Except... they finally get in their noggins to make all things extra, modular add-ins. AC is standard since its a more complex issue involved high and low pressure freon with environmental handling required. But for any and all other extra-features, electronic modules plug into a bus under the dash. You want a feature, factory sends it in box(es) or crates to you. Same goes for power seat, heated seat, leather upholstery. You install, because everything is designed for plug and play. Calibration required? Automatically performed in firmware. If you can't or do not want to save money to install yourself, a new world of Automotive Repair and Module installation shops spring up to implement your custom ride.

For JEEP'rs, the usual suspension, powertrain, wheels, etc. changes which are often just for individuality but also for some, real functional requirements are either done by the owner or shared owner w/finance company. Or those shops that do these alterations are still doing these things.

I don't expect this sort of radical change will ever happen. Then again this, or some revised form of this might make the price of buying a new Gladiator or Wrangler, possible to the greater herd. Build your JEEP as the budget allows.

Just a farfetched idea.

Have been considering an EcoDiesel. Curious what mpg you are getting?
I bought my 22 JTOD new out of state, and got 29.5 mpg on the way home. Now with 4.5” lift and 37s I’m sitting around 22-22.5 mpg. I can touch 23 on a decent drive no problem. They are worth every penny.

I think this was a mistake on the autotrader posting (or possibly bait and switch). If you go to the dealer's website it's about $11k more. I wish it was that cheap though, I would go out there today and buy it

I'm a cheap ass and I've watched everything in SoCal. I had been watching Hemet CDJR for a while. They had a decent set of 24's but now just a few. I do think that's a bait and switch because indeed their site has it at $48K...

However, if you take 20% off the MSRP you get $11,478. So the number above is not right either. Anyway you slice it, I doubt you're going to see Mojaves this low again.

Well...at least for a year:)

The Autotrader ad has the 20% Jeep discount and Hemet added together to get the price to $37,353.
