So today I almost locked myself out. I left my keys in my camelback after a ride, and closed the tailgate with the tonneau cover closed and locked. Then my doors locked. I had to use Uconnect to unlock the doors to get my keys out. Fortunately I had my phone in my pocket, or it would’ve been a ride home to bring the extra set back.
Is it possible to make a spare of just the key portion so I could put it in a “hide-a-key”? I can see this eventually happening again.

Quick Back up solution would be the Hitch Vault for $45. Can easily keep some basics in there for emergency situations. Here’s the link:

My wife and I have a great system that works for us.

The key is that we have an attached garage that is locked.

Each of us keep the second copy of the other cars key in our car.

Then if I get in my car, the key is in it in the cup holder. And the second key to her car is in the center console of my car.

Its come in handy several times because I've pretty much always got her key with me in my car.

Also, I have her Volvo app on my phone and can unlock and/or start her car.

I taught my wife to NEVER lock the doors using the buttons because if she ever got out and didn't grab her pocketbook first (her keys are clipped to it via small caribiner) and closed the door, she was screwed. So, now she ONLY locks the vehicle via the remote after she gets out of the vehicle. This is for both our Jeeps...my JTO and her GC Ltd.. That way she knows it's on her person.

It isn't the proximity locks, it's the power locks. On most any car with power locks, if you hit the unlock button and don't open a (cab) door within 30 seconds or so (usually less than a minute or 2), it locks again. Jeep or no jeep. Now if you don't have power locks, then of course it won't happen.

What subscription is required? I just downloaded the app. Says no active subscription available. Is this tied to Sirius?

Dealer set mine up at purchase. I'm not sure if there is something it goes with or not to be honest.

The Remote Start feature includes the remote lock control using the phone app or website. It is a paid service managed by SiriusXM. The dealer is supposed to set it up before you leave, if your vehicle has it.

Well I have the remote start via the fob. My Sirius XM just expired. Not paying that much a month for a radio I can listen to for free.

So really if a car thief breaks into one of your cars he has access for both vehicles keys. Interesting. Where do you live? ?

If you try to close a locked cab door on the Gladiator with the fob inside, it yells at you and unlocks the doors.
Unless you do it three times…
