Installed the front camera yesterday, but no option for cargo cam on the 8.4.
Here is what I suspect, but looking for guidance.
1: I don’t have a tazer, I have an Ecri. It gives the option to turn on the front camera, which I did. Tazer instructions then say to “Do a reboot.” I don’t have that option. I was able to find on this forum where someone held down steering controls to reboot Uconnect. Is that the same?

2: it says on the plug on the back of the radio to remove the red terminal locking plate. I missed that part. I was able to easily access and seat the two appropriate pins. What’s the point of the red locking plate after removing the plug? Should I hit that step another time? I plan to try a “reboot” first.

What was your experience?

The Front Camera and Cargo Camera are two different inputs. Since you don't have a Tazer, you'll need Jscan or AlfaOBD to activate the Cargo Camera input. Check the ZAutomotive website for the updated camera instructions for the Gladiator to make sure you have the camera wires in the correct pin slots.

Interesting. My ECRI programmer had “front camera” so maybe I need cargo camera option as well? I followed the instructions and put it in the pins ZAuto recommended, which was almost certainly cargo camera. I don’t believe the gladiator even has the option to turn on a front camera or else ZAuto would use that vs cargo.

The Front camera is Digital and has to be connected through a Video processor. The Cargo camera is analog and connects through the wiring plug. The pins used to connect the camera vary with year and model.

Got it. Makes sense because I recall a thread about adding a factory front camera and it was quite involved.

I bought the zautomotive front/cargo camera when I bought my mini-tazer a while back, but never installed it. Since then I added pac audio ampro for amps to the back of the 8.4 stereo head. The pac audio wiring harness is now primary and plugs directly into the 8.4 stereo. The OEM wiring harness plugs directly into the pac audio wiring harness. So the pac audio harness becomes the primary plug into the back of the 8.4 stereo.

So my question is this.. Do the two ZAutomotive camera connector pins still plug into the OEM harnesses that is now plugged into the pac audio harnesses or do the zAutomotive pins plug into the pac audio harness that plugs directly into the back of the 8.4 stereo?

Any knowledge or expertise on this would be greatly appreciated.

If the PAC harness carries all the pins through from the factory plug, then it should work connected to either one. If not, then it would have to be connected to the PAC plug that plugs into the head unit.

When I install it, I’ll update on which one works. Thx!

Update: If anyone has a Pac Audio wiring harness adapter the ZAutomotive camera will still work.

I installed today and Mr. Bill was correct. The PAC Audio harness plug seems to have the needed wires already there to adapt over from the OEM connector plug. Therefore the yellow and black video wires from the ZAutomotive kit plug directly into the “OEM” wiring harness plug. Just push them in with a small screw driver and they snap in. You will hear or feel the click when fully nested.

The worst part of the entire installation was lining up the camera angle in the end and tightened the lens cap back without moving again.

Hope this helps anyone else with the Pac Audio harness to add AMPs and also wants install the ZAutomotive camera with the Tazer-mini.
