Our Cul-de-sac got pretty bad this year. I pulled out the USPS guy twice, those mail carts are awful. Also helped the UPS guy. I'd help more people but all the plastic on cars these days leave me not wanting to break things and then get yelled at by the person I'm helping.

We got an heavy snow episode here in Belgium too 2 weeks ago and it was a massive mess everywhere… truck and cars stuck all around the road ( some were even stuck for 9 hours due to very slow time reaction from the road services )

and it was an epic evening for me with the JT helping people pulling cars .

i even thought trying to helps truck but … wasn’t sure it could be successful. So I didn’t 😂

That's my neck of the woods. Saw it on local news. The local Jeep club (North Texas Jeep Club) is MASSIVE and they usually turn out for bad weather days like these. During the big snow a couple years ago, they were offering rides to work for first responders and ER staff. If I didn't have work and my wife let me, I might have been out there, too.

I honestly think a lot of people are put at ease when they see a Jeep in these scenarios. Safety and security are attached to the Jeep culture and brand.

I remember a few years back when we were camping, another group of people needed help and when I showed up, I heard a few people say "Oh Thank God!" I just showed up in my Gladiator. Ha.

I was able to help two truckers out so far this year in the same snowfall. There are a few spots local to me that are prone to having trucks get stuck. This was a pretty steep hill, and these guys made it about 75% - 80% of the way up and came to a stop. Hooked up, and in 4-low, I was able to help them get to the top. I love helping and showing off what these things can do.

IMO, there's no feeling like it - seeing the faces, the looks when you come up and start helping.

It's been a year ago now, but I pulled a guy out of a ditch after he left a fairly decent main road and took an exit - after a night-time rain turned to ice turned to snow storm.
The look on his face - and his asking "you would do that??" made my day.

A truck hauling scrap iron pulled up behind me offering to help me with chain to increase the length of my winch rope and said if my truck started to slide we could strap my truck to his much bigger truck (I was parked on ice and it was trouble just walking around my truck to get the winch rope out)
The truck driver also helped to guide any other vehicles well around us and kept things safer.

So true. I was out in the JKUR one day headed to some hot springs near the Verde River Sheep Bridge and drove up on this scenario:
Jeep Gladiator Jeep Crew Saves The Icy/Snowy Day: Helps Pull Drivers Stuck on Interstate 20 VerdeRiver01

The guys were high centered on a sand bar for several hours with no 4WD, no recovery tools (i.e. winch, straps, etc.). There were 2 or 3 other vehicles trying to help but they had no winches and only one 20' tow strap. I turned to the wife and said "You know I'm gonna have to go down there and help..." She said "I'm surprised you're not helping already!"

But to the point, when I drove down through the rock garden to get to the beach from which they had entered the river, everyone there looked up and saw me coming down and starting jumping up and down and yelling and waving me on.

A simple winching operation with a full size Ford diesel as an anchor and it was done.

It had a "happy ending" but I was definitely a savior that day as they had already had an awful day to that point.

I do IT stuff so I can buy Jeep stuff.
So none of y'all have ended up with someone trying to sue you for damages over a few scuffs on their bumper that weren't caused by you pulling them out of the snow bank they were stuck in? ...... I'm all about helping people, but I am pretty gun shy now. If someone isn't in a situation that is actually dangerous I am only willing to lend them my phone to call a towing company. Another case where one a--hole has ruined things for everyone else.

For me personally, I won't think twice about helping someone on the trail or out in the wilderness. I may me "naive" or "optimistic" but I generally don't find the type of people out in the wild to be a litigious group, especially since other help may not be readily available.

People on developed roads are another story BUT if I help, I usually have them hook things up so that it is on them. However, I won't let them hook up something dangerously or in a way that something will get damaged.

In most cases, you can hook up a recovery in a way that things won't get damaged if you are smart about it.

EDIT: I know we have a very litigious society and I hear lots of people express that same concern, but there just isn't an overwhelming number of news articles about people being sued for this type of thing. I'm on several Jeep/Overlanding/Off-road forums and you just don't see a lot of people getting "in trouble" when helping out as a good Samaritan.
