Much of what this transmission professional discusses, I’ve mentioned and actually do for best results. He talks about what heat does, an angle I’ve not heard yet, he mentions even a strand of hair can bind up a valve, thanks to @ShadowsPapa for saying that one months ago, and he also mentions “annual pan drops”! Geee, crazy.

Great Video.

Excellent video. It certainly supports your previous advice.

Here are some key segments:

Heat & electronics: 0:48-1:04 and 2:08-2:10
Service interval: 7:32-8:26
Drain & fill: 9:11-9:43

Service intervals for the automatic transmission in the Gladiator:
  • For service interval guidance from ZF (the automatic transmission licensor), see doc #2 and doc #4 in ATF Equivalents
  • Also see ATF for Automatic Transmission, under Important Reminders, in Key Info

People need to stop listening to the dealer when they say "lifetime fluids" or "maintenance free" because it's just bs to keep consumers content with their 60k+ purchase. NOTHING is maintenance free on a vehicle. Don't change the fluid, it's going to burn over time. Don't clean the inside, it's going to get dirty af. Don't rotate your tires, yeah...you'll go through them quick af.

They guy in the video also talks about GM and their tranny issues, and electrical issues, and how they are not asking the engineers who speak up about cost/reliability design flaws to the table anymore because "it's costing them money" and how that has made designs crappy, cheaper, and they still get their way in the top office.

Interesting video.
I‘m about to do a drain and fill on my automatic transmission and wondering if anyone knows of a clear and concise set of instructions on the best way to do it. I thought someone here and done a detailed write up or linked to one but I couldn’t find it.
Thanks.

I've previously done a drain and fill on the auto trans in my Gladiator. It's a little intimidating as the stakes are seemingly high, but it's really straight forward. I would think if you have even some basic mechanical aptitude you can handle this pretty easily.
