So, I picked up my Sport S on Friday. I have put around 250 miles on it. The auto start/stop has not functioned one time. There are no lights triggered and everything else is functioning 100%. As of right now, I am considering it a bonus Easter egg. My dad suggested hitting the button that would turn it off and see what happens. I'm going to wait it out. I don't want to make it suddenly start working. Anyone else have this happening?

Scroll through the screens on your home screen (between the tach and speedo) What message do you get? Start/Stop Charging? Cabin temp/AC? Eric Cartman "Screw you guys, I'm going home!"?

Check the center display and it will let you know why ess is not working. First, on new vehicle it needs to charge a little. Second, like Chad mentioned, if your cabin temp is not balanced out it wont let you. Either its struggling to get to the temp you set or you have it on max. Have you been doing just in town, start/stop traveling? Anything longer distance (i.e 30-40 miles)?

pretty sure oil temp plays a roll in when it kicks on and off….
At least on our diesel it doesn’t start doing anything until the oil temp is 200+. Could just be coincidence too ??‍♂

Put the truck on a battery tender and let it charge as long as needed. Usually battery issues begin with no ASS....

It won't activate if AC/heat is on from what I experienced. I thought I read a while back that someone didn't have the auto start/stop module installed at the factory.

Every time I start my vehicle: 1] press start button, 2] Disable ESS
I admit, they did a better job than Ford - every ford rental i have had loses power steering when ESS engages and lurches if it comes back on if you release the brake too quickly. On those occasions where I forget to disable it, I found that I can keep my Gladiator ESS from engaging at full stop if I reduce pedal pressure after coming to a stop.

My dealer was 70 miles from my house. The rest of my driving has just been local. I'll check it tomorrow with the AC off. Again, I really am not disappointed that it is not working. I would be shutting it off anyways.

I wish mine would disable on its own. I've been getting better at disabling it, but every once in awhile I forget and get extremely annoyed. I know there are work arounds, but I'd prefer to have a toggle switch or have it work like my BMW in once you disable it, it stays disabled. If there is something recently added/updated from Jeep, please let me know so I can go through my settings.

If this is true, I sure wish I could have requested the factory to not install this system on mine!

I swear I read it somewhere but it was a mistake from the factory. I personally don't mind it but I can see why people dislike it.
