I really hope this gets Jeep to make more equipment standard on the base Gladiators.

I don't mind the manual windows or locks on my base Sport but it blows my mind that Jeep is the only one still offering this in 2022. Also some of the basic things like LED lighting are sold as options that are ridiculously overpriced imo.
Have you priced quality aftermarket LED headlights recently (not crappy amazon stuff, but actual, quality stuff? That option is far from ridiculously overpriced. Not to mention that the factory LEDs are engineered better than the aftermarket stuff. I've had truck lites, Grote, and the cheap Amazon crap. My factory LEDS are by far better than the aftermarket stuff.

In my opinion, the IFS is just no competition for the solid axle.
in what environment? Off road, no question your statement stands 100% true. On road, Solid axle is no competition for a IFS suspension for comfort and ride control.

While i do like the looks of the new Colorado and styling and if I didn't want a "Jeep" it would be on my short list for sure.

But I think most of us bought our JT's because we wanted to be in the niche market and own a Jeep Pick Up truck. Unless somebody (say Ford Bronco) comes out with a Pick up that the doors and top comes off, nothing will really compare

I remember when Chevrolet offered the Beretta, Lumina and Corsica. They appeared to be the same car with different badges. Never could figure that out. But everyone I knew who drove a Chevrolet back than learned to despise the Bowtie. Those cars took only a brief pause between the assembly line and the junk yard.

The worst car I ever drove in my entire life was a Chevrolet Cavalier. Oh, the humanity! It was gutless. It handled poorly. The seats were brutal. And the floor pan was shaped in a way to not allow my left foot to placed anywhere comfortably.

The second worst car I ever drove was a Chevrolet HHR. Phooey!
I loved my 1988 Beretta GT because it was my first car (and didn't know any better...ha). It looked cool, but I bought it used at 26K miles and with a single Mom at home, I didn't know much about cars (at the time). The coolant and other fluids were never flushed, so it started overheating around 75K miles. Luckily, call it divine intervention, a girl in a Celica hit me and totalled my car. My engine bay was crushed and there was rusted coolant everywhere. Ha. It was an honorable death.

Yeah like @NachoRuby said if you want more options then buy something other than the base. I was shopping for Manual windows and locks when I was looking. I really hope they keep that as a option on the Base model's

I think they offer it precisely because people want it. That's an intentional offering. Like wranglers with no AC are still available too. It's on purpose. It's to meet a certain price point while still offering a convertible, and maybe even moreso, to appeal to the nostalgic buyer looking for simplicity. Don't think of it as not being standard. It's more like you're getting a discount for not getting them. The base price would just go up if they made it standard. I actually wish I could have gotten my Rubi with roll-up windows, because I could have put the money elsewhere on more options I do care about. Almost bought a Willys with no stuff. My wife said I need power windows.

I would give up my power windows and locks before I gave up my cold weather package, though.
Manual windows and tyranny are two of the reasons I love Vlad the Glad so much . KISS

I recently traded my 2019 Canyon for a 2021 Gladiator. The Canyon was a decent truck, but was rather vanilla. It just didn't have the fun factor that the Gladiator has.

Honestly I don't think it means much to the Gladiator. Unless I read the market wrong, I think the vast majority who buy the Gladiator want a Jeep. Some portion of the ownership are buying a small/mid-size truck & not focused on buying a Jeep. Those are the folks that will compare across brands and that is fine, just saying it seems like people who want a Jeep and want a truck are the target for the Gladiator. Nothing wrong with the others out there, honestly I loved the Tacoma I had before my JLU but once I got the bug I didn't want to not have a Jeep. So for me and others like me it really doesn't matter what anyone else does. :)

What others have said...the jeep is a niche market. I've had the Colorado and a full size ram 1500. All great but I wanted something fun to mess around in. Those that are looking at the Colorado, ranger, etc...are not comparing those with the gladiator. Completely different market.

this is a true statement, I've noticed on the Ranger forum the comparables are always Tacoma, Colorado, or the Frontier

I mean nobody is buying a Gladiator that isn't (1) looking for a Jeep, or (2) looking for off-road capability. It's a fucking terrible truck compared to the rest of what's out there and you're paying well-equipped F-150 prices for one. The rear coils don't make up for the SFA in the slightest when it comes to ride and handling and the Ranger is a better option for power/payload/towing. The Tacoma will likely outlive any of them if you're outside the rust belt and the ZR2 is more capability than 99% of the market needs without all the crap that comes with the SFA.

If I'm just looking for a mid-size pickup, the rest of the market is pretty homogenous so those are the ones I'm going to cross-shop. People who buy a Gladiator are buying it for the things that make it different, not despite them.
