Love my Gladiator so far. I’ve been really happy with everything, haven’t had any problems or issues and it’s treated me great. I’ve done some low speed off-roading and some higher speed trail cruising both in 4-Hi and it has performed exceptional. I’m glad I made the switch from a Silverado to a Gladiator.

Approaching 5000 miles, I have a couple of questions:

How many free oil changes do you get? Is it something I should use up at my dealership before changing it myself?

Is it a good idea to keep it changes around every 5000 miles or go to 7500? Right now I believe my oil life is at 45% which would make it close to 9,000 miles before it reaches 0 which I’m sure not waiting that long.

Any other info I should know or keep a look out for?

You get three free oil changes and tire rotations with the Jeep Wave program.

https://www.jeep.com/jeep-wave.html

Some will argue to do it yourself and keep receipts and documentation as some dealerships are ham fisted and prone to screw up an oil change but that is for you to determine the confidence that your local dealership is competent or not.

As to when to change? Any oil subject is going to be a hot topic with a never end different amount of opinions. There is nothing wrong with following the owners manual recommendations of following the OLM (oil life monitor) and/or not exceed 10K miles between changes.

That being said, many to include myself like to follow a every 5K mile regime as it is way easier to keep track of when following the odometer mileage.

Unless you meet the owners manual definition of "Severe Service", there is very little to almost no evidence outside anecdotal tales from others to have a more restricted maintenance regime.

I just have to ask…do you feed the geese after you post all of these “you should have used the search functionality” posts? It’s annoying AF and there has got to be a better way to spend your time.

I did my own oil change at 5000. I wanted to learn the vehicle more and I wanted to collect a sample for analysis to give me a sense of how things are going in there.

The free change wasn't good enough value to offset those things for me.
Besides, I haven't had an oil change done by an outside party in about 10 years.
The people they usually have doing them do not inspire me.

I’m aiming for 7500 interval, currently at around 7k miles myself, showing 30% life. The oil life indicator is almost certainly not linear. Typically I’d have no trouble with a 10k interval with synthetic oil, but 7500 looks more realistic with the Jeep. Going to do my own oil changes, got a Fumoto valve and an aluminum engine skid plate sitting in the garage.

How much do you pay for 5 quarts and a filter versus what the dealership charges? I’m looking at $75.76 before tax if it wasn’t for the Jeep Wave which sounds stupid high priced.

Just feeding trolls. Geese won't come back if you quit feeding them.

Use the Jeep app for coupons, such as buy 3 get 1 free.

I want to say it was around $45 all in.
The filter element is about $7.

Ask yourself why do you have to manually reset the oil life gauge if it's smart enough to actually to determine the quality of the oil in the crankcase.

It’s not sampling the oil, it’s using load, temps, mileage to determine the life remaining. How would it know that you changed the oil?

Walmart carries the Mopar MO-349 filter, $11.
5 quarts of your favorite 0w-20 ~$40.

Is that $75 amount a dealership oil change full retail? Like others mentioned, you can get both the OEM filter and name brand full synthetic oil 5 quart jug for like $30-$40 easily at Walmart if doing it yourself.

Gladiator and Wrangler 3.6L are about the easiest oil change to do yourself.
