This never ending argument is just a continuation of a proper philosophical argument. "When is a car a car? Is it a car if it's missing it's doors? What if I keep taking parts off the car, when does it stop being a car? If I just have an engine, that's obviously not a car."

Don't over-complicate it, if it has a bed and looks like a truck, it's a truck and anyone who wants to say anything and pretend like it's an objective opinion is an ignorant douche not worth talking to.

It's one thing to be like, "In Australia, we consider..." and another thing entirely to be like, "It must have a frame, it must have 10" of clearance, etc." The former is an interesting cultural discussion on language, the latter is douchery that leads to nothing but irritating mental masturbation that's fun for no one.

Went from an '06 Wrangler Unlimited to a Gladiator. Had to get new plates and new EZ Pass tag, rather than transfer them, because I went from a "wagon" to a "truck".

For me a "truck" has a body on frame construction. That means Gladiator, Tacoma, Frontier, Ranger ect. are "mid size trucks" Sure some guys distinguish a truck as full size and then there are even some others that believe a "truck" actually starts at 3/4 and above. Again, if it has a bed and frame it is a truck. A Honda Ridgeline, Subaru Baja, and Hyundai Santa Cruz are not trucks. Yes, they have a bed but that is the only truck like feature. They basically are more like a modern El Camino or Ranchero which are traditionally modeled after cars. The first generation El Camino was an Impala with a bed, later a Chevelle, lastly off a Caprice. I am less of a Ford guy but Ranchero was first based off the car called a Falcon..point is based off a car.

I thought of another thing on the way to work. The Gladiator is being built in Toledo (so USA naming convention applies) , the guy that designed it called it a truck, so its truck enough for me.

Also I would run the 4 year old test, my son would call this a car driving down the road,
