I still think this is a pretty great engine all things considered. Doesn’t overheat and pretty reliable. Nothing is 100% with machines

I've only driven my 2020 JTR 15,000+ miles since purchasing it a year ago but it's been reliable as the day is long.

I change the oil & filter at an indicated 33% to 50% remaining oil life. But I admit the 0-20w viscosity doesn't fill me with expectations of 626,000 miles - though I'll never live that long.

The 626k mile tear down is from a 2014…. Some fairly significant changes since then.

At the 5:10-5:15 mark he notes he used valvoline motor oil (if anyone else was curious like I was….) changed every 8k-11k miles. use- though I’m assuming it’s a predominantly highway driven motor.

I use Valvoline high mileage synthetic blend on my 5.4 F-150 after 100k every 3-5k miles. At 266k did a front end teardown due to a major oil leak at the timing cover. Not a spec of sludge anywhere. Engine still runs great at 281k. Barely brief smoke on cold start up after extended non use. Lost a total of 1 mpg (13 to 12) since new.

where's the odometer showing it?

That video was made in 2022. The engine is from a 2014 Promaster. So it's 6 years old. It had to avg 104,333 miles per year. 8,698 per month. 2,006 per week. 285 per day. It never stopped. When did they find time to service it?

Not to be pedantic, but 22-14 =/= 6.... 8 years, 2922 days(including leap year), closer to ~200 miles a day, assuming he didnt buy the 2014 model in 2013 calendar year.

I didnt click the link, but ~200 miles a day doesnt seem too crazy if he is a delivery driver. Thats basically 25-30 miles each hour for an 8 hour shift - - assuming the van is used 7 days a week obvi.

No it's not. I typed 2022 instead of 2020. I went back and corrected it. You got me. Still, that's a chit load of miles. Wonder how many times they replaced the brake pads and rotors. And what the driver's seat looks like.

This engine made it on 5w20. No different than 0w20 at full operating temp.

He used both Mobil 1 and Valvoline. I remember him saying somewhere else that more often it is was Mobil 1. Both are obviously great oils.

The whole article comes from 2020 and has been referred to a couple of times when people complain about what crappy engines they are LOL
