I didnt do a video or take a bunch of pics, but if you've worked on vehicle wiring, or ever installed offroad lights before, this should be fairly easy to follow.Do you have a write up of that relay install? Would love to do the same thing.
The light bar came with a harness and relay along with a lighted dash switch. Pretty much like this one: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B071ZPX32N
I used the harness pretty much as is, except I clipped 2 of the 3 wires running to the switch in the kit, leaving only the wire that already ran to terminal 85 on the relay. That's the trigger wire that I ran to the left front headlight. Now, I have seen posts here or in the JL forums where people unbundled the main harness and tapped the hi beam wire there, but I really did not want to do that. Nor did I want to take apart the front of the Jeep to reach the right side headlight bucket, which would have kept the wiring short. I found I could reach the left side bucket connector by hand without taking anything apart, and it had enough slack in it for me to tap into the wire and make a solder connection with only having to cut back the loom less than an inch. The first pic shows how the relay is wired, the second pic shows which terminal was the high beams on the left bucket connector. The wire itself was white with a green stripe I believe. I did not use any of the crimp on connections and plugs included with the harness. I soldered, heat shrinked, and taped all the connections.
I have the halogen headlights, and unlike when I did this to the JK Wrangler, I did not need to reprogram the high beam voltage to keep the relay from clicking. Really, the hardest part was running and zip tying the new wires along existing harnesses to keep it as neat looking as possible.
As this is wired, when AUX 1 is on, the offroad lights will turn on and off with the high beam headlights. When the switch is off, they will not. Should satisfy any sort of vehicle inspections in most states. Aux 1 is programmed with latching on, only works with ignition, and switch recalls last state it was in when vehicle is restarted.
