No mainstream media shills will discuss it but it’s all over the internet. Foreign countries have been affected by it already and I suppose that’s where most of this talk has originated.
If it happens, it would also affect Gas that’s delivered in tanker trucks running on diesel.
Curious if anyone with firsthand knowledge can comment…
Is it the fall shutdown of refineries?

It's a great time to be a fuel retailer.

The companies I work for, our margin on fuel for 2022 is 10.5% or about $0.40/gallon.
I would have LOVED to have been in whatever market that is for the 28 years I owned my station! Granted, the last 6 or 7 years have been MUCH better margin-wise, but I can remember many times, especially during the Obama years, that margins were slim or even negative on gas.

I just looked back at 2014 and fuel margin was a little under 4% then. Quite different.

Quite the increase there in per gal profit...less than 4% on $3.92 gal vs today at 10.5% on $4.92 gal. I couldn't keep my business open on even 10.5%, but most of the time those gals pump themselves so labor on the gross is pretty low?

When my brother had a gas station in the early 80's. He was making 0.03 a gallon on 87, and 0.05 a gallon for 93. He was an independent dealer. He made more working on vehicles then selling gas.

Strategic reserves are just that, reserves….not to be released unless there are no other alternatives.

If this issue is to be resolved we need to quit trying to win and start trying to get along.

Sorry, that is internet lore, an old wive's tale. It's not a byproduct of anything.
+
It's made through fractional distillation - the same way gasoline, kerosene and other products are made. Every barrel of oil produces roughly 11 gallons of diesel, while you get about 20 gallons of gasoline from that same barrel. So it's nearly two to one gas to diesel from each barrel of oil.
A barrel of oil is 42 gallons of crude.

Here's something from the web

Then why has diesel been historically cheaper than regular unleaded and through whatever crises there hasn't been this disparity?

Is heating oil the same as red diesel?
No, heating oil is not the same as red diesel (off-road fuel). Though both are tax exempt and dyed red, they each have different sulfur contents. Heating oil has 500ppm of sulfur while red diesel has less than 15ppm. Note that red diesel can be a substitute for heating oil, but heating oil cannot substitute red diesel because of its high sulfur content which is bad for the environment.
Will it run in a ecodiesel ?

Sure, why not........Question is how long will the ecodiesel run on it! Sulphur is hard on catalytic converters.

I dunno but its probably illegal. Because taxes and such.

I wonder If an EcoDiesel can handle fryer oil?

Anyone check the pricing on BioD?
Yes, it is illegal. For many reasons, it violates epa regulations and has no road tax in it.
The high sulphuric content clogs up your catalyst among other things. It does not have the additives that diesel does like lubricants and anti-gel. Heating oil is also less consistent in quality, the acceptable range is more broad.
Around here, due to various pricing techniques heating oil and diesel fuel are within pennies of each other.
