I went the opposite direction last year. Loved, loved my Ram 3500 but love, love and love my JTM. It fits my needs so much better, that's what it's all about. Although I would have liked to be the salesman on this deal... You will love your 350.
The salesman didn’t last long during our negotiations. Soon after we started bargaining, one of the sales managers took over the whole deal. The poor sales guy just got the bad rap for the poor survey, along with whatever his cut was.

If I could do the transaction over, the thing I thought for a few weeks that I would do differently is, after forcing them to give me back the keys of my trade and threatening to walk, I would have walked. And when I departed I would have said, “I’ve got approved financing, give me $55k for my trade, and get the MSRP markup off the windshield and we can do business.”

But right now, it’s a mug‘s game. China is melting down COVID (so is LA) and who really knows what this winter holds and where all this is going with the supply chain?

And last time I checked, the two F250s and the other F350 were still there, so they’re not eager to cut deals.

Things to say don’t always come to me all at once, especially at my age, so apologies for that, and here’s another thought.

The five-foot bed size was a deal-breaker on the Gladiator too. I’m 5’ 7” and my spouse is 5’ 4.” With the F350, I can put a Decked platform and a camper shell on the F350 and have a crude camper capable of being slept in quite nicely. Not so with the Gladiator.

Something I thought about while laying in the bed of the Gladiator in a sleeping bag with the tailgate down in the middle of the night somewhere in Kansas this summer.

Yeah, I can blow thousands for a pop-up tent for the Gladiator bed, but I’m not interested in climbing a ladder.

An added thought on what I said above regarding safety. To my understanding, the Gladiator is governed to 97 MPH. That says a lot about stability in places like Wyoming where the speed limit is 80 MPH and you’re doing 90 to pass folks.
Normally I dont comment on these but just thought it interesting a couple points you made

First, congrats on the 350, great truck. Totally different purpose than the gladiator but sounds like it suits you better which is important.

Doing 90 on any freeway just because is a bad idea - us Americans have a bad addiction to ‘gotta hurry up and be the first one there!’ I consistently go 5-10 under. More time to enjoy the sights that way, less stress and easier on my vehicles. But at 70-75, even 80 mine feels fine.

I also am service connected. I had a OBS 350 for some time. Sold it for the Gladiator because I literally could not get into it anymore. It was a challenge. In fact lately I am contemplating the fate of my loved and critically significant TJ because it is hard on me. I also find the nimbleness and capability of the Gladiator aids my particular mental struggles as I know it can get out of situations much easier due to size and capability. Being stuck in a bad way in a big vehicle sucks bad. Been there. Not doing that again. Not to discount your issues but I just found that particular bit interesting.

I also lowered my insurance by switching from the OBS to the gladiator by 50 bucks a month. I thought thst was pretty insane. But it must have something to do with the safety features not found on a 25 yr old truck.

Hey at least you gave Jeep a shot. I love everything about mine, and on the opposite dislike most things about the new Ford trucks. But its all personal preference and use case specific. Im sure the 350 will work for what you need.

Thanks for putting yourself and your struggles out there. They’re real and valid.

The “big truck” thing can be a nightmare. We almost got into a pickle yesterday in a couple of parking lots when you’re trying to turn in, etc, and people are darting in and out in small vehicles.

My lease in Vegas is up in March. Not sure that I’m staying. I’m really not a city person. I winter in Vegas and summer elsewhere, another rental. Who knows what’s next?

I agree. That’s the most likely scenario and the interest rate bump is real. As in really, really effing painful!

I should also add that I tried negotiating a Chevy 3500 with the Allison and diesel. It had a $7,500 markup. I was out of there in 20 minutes, told me to go pound sand. Same offer, $48k, and the MSRP jack wasn’t negotiable. And they had 12 diesel trucks in stock on the lot.

I was at my Ford dealer last Friday. My friend is a salesman there.

He had an F150 Lariat that was a customer order they backed out of. Took 1 year to come in. I could’ve bought it for $7k off sticker, but it was still $65k.

He told me he also has a Super Duty order that is 1 yr and 3 months old. Still waiting. Also a Lariat model.

Hopefully the supply shortages are ending. There are some positive signs showing they may be.

It is a shitty feel. I agree with him on that.

ROFLMAO. As one of my favorite posters put it so succinctly: “parts bin.”

Imagine spending $108k on the Grand Wagoneer after watching the commercial and getting that same “sh$tty feel” as the guy who spent $45,000.

Exhausting read
That two word response is the kind of lame response that men send me on Doublelist when I’m dating.

”Still interested?” They ask?

No! I’m not. You’re a man of too few words, and I don’t have any interest in extracting them at a rate of one word, or one sentence at a time.

Good luck in your search for better conversation.

You lucked out not getting a deal on the Chevy. I had a Colorado ZR2 Diesel, it was the best, until it was the absolute worst, sitting at the dealer for a month, claiming fixed then 24hrs later back with emissions warnings and repeat and repeat etc.. We were outside and the general manager said we appreciate your patience and calm manner ( they didn't know I had the Mojave trade lined up at that point keeping me happy ) then they pointed out 6 or 7 full size diesels and 2 more colorado's. They said we have no parts, no eta, nothing we can do, we're embarrassed. We then initiated the buy back process but the Mojave arrived before that happened.

I read not to touch the Colorado diesel. Something about having to remove the transmission at a certain mileage service point to replace a belt or timing chain. Sounded super stupid.
