Death wobble is very rare, especially if you maintain your vehicle. Modifying doesnt suddenly cause death wobble and in and of it self doesnt increase your chances of death wobble if done responsibly (may lower it depending what you put on). Once you understand that death wobble is because of loose steering components (either through tolerances, wear, or just straight up loose hardware) its pretty easy to prevent with a 15 minute inspection at every oil change. Honestly if true deathwobble afflicted even .01% of jeeps you'd have a recall as we'd be looking at probably close to 10K still in warranty jeeps as the complaints.
That was an incredible response. It explained a lot.

Thank you!

In turn, I’ll share my takeaway stuff.

Until I ran across the term death wobble in here, it was never a part of my lexicon. But as you explained, it’s extremely rare, and if you’re unfortunate enough to experience it, the fault is basically your own. Either you made an extreme modification to the vehicle, or you’re not doing or getting the proper suspension maintenance.

So for me the thing snowballed. I came across threads mentioning death wobble and developed ungrounded fears of it.

Also interesting is how the topic was used to instill uncertainty about it regarding my new vehicle purchase as a means to take a dig at me. The “you’re just as likely to get it in your Ford too,” remarks. When that isn’t true or likely all.

So thank you again!

Would th OP go on record as saying it will be The Last Jeep I Will Ever Own?
That’s a NO!

I might get in a wreck and total my F350 and end up back in the predicament that the only thing left on dealerships lots to protect me against road hazards is another new Gladiator.

An alibi addition to that comment.

My spouse said to pass along for me not to commit to your request to state I’ll never own another Jeep product, because she likes them.

She’s taken an interest in reading this thread. Let’s hope that she doesn’t create an account and start participating in the discussion.

For the record, she doesn’t like the F350. It’s harder for her to drive in the city.

But she’s not on the title or loan and it’s big enough to sleep in for free on BLM land.

I mean, technically you probably are just as likely to get it on the ford since its a SFA, but the chances of getting it are so low with proper maintenance that its probably less likely than getting smashed by a semi and losing that fight. Death wobble does seem to have turned in to the boogey man when it comes to jeeps, a tire out of balance or a bit of bump steer and suddenly its "death wobble we're all going to die!!!!"

I skipped ahead after page one. Why is this still going on? Best of luck to you.
Nice to meet you, Jason.

I should get to know you before I depart.

As for why we’re still talking is because it’s a discussion board?

Yup our USAA for 2 vehicles in about 100 a month in Vegas.
You do realize that’s a disingenuous comment without all the insurance variables, right?

For example, a guy yesterday said he had a $1,000 deductible.

Mine is $50 for comprehensive and $200 for collision. And I’m insuring an $83k purchase.

I don’t think anyone’s actually experienced a death wobble until you’ve come out of turn 14 at barber motor sports raceway and hit the middle of the front stretch at WOT, get hard on the brakes for turn 1 and get into a violent tank slapper right around the 130mph mark. Let go of the bars and hope for the best.

I’ve had two claims in the past year, so it’s unclear if that’s affecting my rates.

Before the Gladiator, I had a Scat Pack Challenger. Some 77-year-old moron moving out who rented a 26,000 pound Penske truck and didn’t take the insurance backed into the front end and ripped the bumper. Probably around $2,500 in damage including the rental car. State Farm wouldn’t pay because they said he was driving a commercial vehicle without a commercial license. He hit a bunch of other stuff too in the parking lot, and more on his way to California.

Then there was the windshield claim on the Gladiator. After the camera was recalibrated and the cost of the part, that was probably around $1,200.

So Allstate made little or nothing on me in the past year and is probably trying to get back in the black. I don’t believe in Santa Claus or “accident forgiveness.”
Unsure. I have 8 claims that show up in the past 3-5 years but they're literally all glass claims from AZ. Once I realized (even though Geico promised me it would not impact my rates) it DOES impact my rates, I started paying for windshields out of pocket. By the way, you do NOT need to recalibrate the camera (for the safety features/auto cruise) when replacing the windshield. I've never done it and as you can see -- I've gone through a lot of windshields. Everything continues to work fine. My windshields have all been around ~$600-$700 to replace. I no longer replace more often than once a year, even if the crack is bad. Right now my Gladiator has 3 cracks going across every part of the windshield lol. Replacing it later this month. Somehow made it 2 years on this vehicle.

Also re: USAA/etc charging you for an accident -- dispute that on your CLUE report. That's illegal for them not to correct it. I had to do it as well -- Geico listed a glass claim as an accident.

That was me, you can pick whatever deductible you want, I chose $1000 deductible so I wasn’t paying more on the premium. I don’t plan on using insurance so why pay more per month and $1000 deductible may keep the wife and I from going out to dinner for the week, (she likes going to the casino after dinner) I’ll be adding a 2023 ZX10R to the list tomorrow so I may be paying 240.00 a month now.

What am I getting accused of trying to sell?

I traded my vehicle into a Ford dealer. The screenshot in the first post shows them trying to sell it.

What’s been great about this thread is others have gotten to see how some of you behave here.
The reason you like this thread is because the false sense of attention you get is what floats your boat. Facebook is a great platform for that, and that's where you and your ilk belong.

I save quite a bit by paying twice per year instead of monthly.

Your rates still seem really good though. I pay about $1,300/year/vehicle. Michigan no-fault which sucks big time.

I saved 15% on my insurance just last week by leaving the scene of the crime! ?

Just kidding. But it sure shows how much it is a balancing act between claim and no claim situations.

I totally get your thought process on the high deductible but it’s simply more gambling in a casino town, or anywhere else.

I’ll explain how I got burned by having a $500 deductible until earlier this year.

I mentioned previously that the geezer who hit my Challenger didn’t purchase insurance for the moving truck. So he was an uninsured motorist. Which means I had to claim the accident on my insurance policy. That also means I had to eat the $500 deductible, a $1,000 deductible in your case for every accident that you can’t bill someone else’s insurance for to get compensated.

That triggers a memory I had forgotten. Shortly after I got to Vegas I bought my i3 EV. And on day three of ownership another neighbor backed into it. Geico spent a couple thousand fixing it but I still got burned. They told me to get screwed when I tried to file a diminished value claim to cover depreciation for the accident.
