Here is my current set up. Only 25,000 miles on Raptor so I think I could get decent trade in. Like I mentioned Probably 2000 miles on camper so I’m basically keeping Raptor to tow camper 3 times per year. Loved the Raptor but love Jeeps even more.
If you're towing that rarely I wouldn't even think twice. Just don't expect it to drive like a raptor and you'll have a blast.

Right!!! Really liking the Gobi color BTW! Question: Does the Rubicon JT have the same width axles as the Sport Max Tow? Can you add 35 inch tires to Rubicon without a lift and not effecting towing capacity too much as opposed to adding 35inch tires to Sport with max tow? Sorry if this has already been covered.

I know I would miss the power of the Raptor but thats about it. I load up bed with some firewood, small fridge, corn hole board, water and of course a cooler full of beer. I think I could make that all fit in the JT bed. If not, then I will get rid of the water. Got my priorities.

Yes, numerous threads on here. You can run 35s stock with mild interference if you do serious off reading. Small effect on towing as you are slightly raising final drive ratio.
People love the Gobi everywhere I go. Changes with the lighting too.

Down size the trailer? We have a Rockwood Roo 19' 3 bed hybrid, meaning the 3 beds pop out. Plenty of room for us and 2 kids though we do all of our cooking outside and have an additional instant up if needed. The new ones are wicked light compared to ours.

35's are %11 larger diameter than the stock sport 245/75's. So by adding them you'd loose %11 of your tow capacity....with a max tow that's 825lbs less you are capable of towing. Not to include the power loss of the larger heavier tires. I know everyone loves the larger tires, but I can say from experience it tows better with a stock size. Its hard to find that happy middle ground of how you want your jeep to operate and eventually the off road ability and tow ability diverge.

Just food for thought.

Yes, the Gobi is awesome!

If you want wide axles, ability to do 35’s out of the box, and a bunch of other cool stuff like 4.10s and Fox shocks look into the Mojave. Was the perfect package for what I do with my Jeep.

As far as towing and 35’s I’m gonna pass. When it’s time for tires I’ll ether bump up slightly to a 285/75 or maybe the Raptor spec 315/70 BFGs (that are actually only 33.5 inches tall).

If you’re bored with the Raptor and want a reason to get a Jeep again, get a Jeep that is a couple years old, plus a 2012-2013 Silverado with the reliable 5.3l engine for camping. You may end up spending about the same amount at the end of the day, plus you can decide to get a Wrangler if you want.

Just completed a 1200 mile tow including a few hundred miles of mountain running. Ran beautifully. Even passed a bunch of campers and tractor-trailers smoothly.

Towed a 25' boat, motor, trailer, and gas/gear rig weighing around 5,500 lbs.

Good to hear you didn’t have any issues towing. It’s helpful to hear the experiences those are having with towing. Like I said I tow furthest 200 miles 3 times a year with 4800 lb (dry weight) TT to Maine and NH. Definitely don’t max out TT weight since it’s just the two of us. Do you think a Rubicon JT with 35s be capable over max tow since I like idea of more aggressive tires and look? I really don’t want 2 vehicles (keep raptor and get older Jeep) as suggested even though great suggestions but not in budget right now.

We traded a 2019 Raptor scab on a 2021 ecodiesel. I added a Banks tuner and their pedal monster. Our Raptor had Eibach front springs and Deaver rears with 37" KM3's. The Jeep has a Clayton overland lift and Nitto 37's.
We don't miss the Raptor, the power of the ecodiesel is great. We added a brake contoller and have towed around 5-6k a couple times with no problem.
Our Jeep has been listed on ebay if you are interested.

Edit to add: This Jeep now has a Mopar 2" lift installed.

Hi there. I'm new to forum but not new to owning Jeeps. I currently own a 2019 Ford Raptor SCAB. I currently tow a Riverside Retro Camper 27' 10" long with dry weight of 4800 pounds. The farthest we tow TT is 150 - 200 miles. I live in the Northeast. I'm really missing owning and driving a Jeep. I've owned both a JK Wrangler and JL Wrangler. But then me and my wife got into camping. I used to tow 2000 lb 15' camper with JL (had 2" mopar lift with 35" tires) with no issues except when climbing up inclines where 3.6 motor would struggle a bit but nothing crazy. We wanted a bigger camper and I was wanting a Ford Raptor. I bought the Raptor (6000 lb towing capacity with 1000 lb payload) and upgraded to current 4800 lb Travel Trailer mentioned earlier. It tows TT no problem. I use WDH as well. I've been researching many forums and youtube videos for weeks about towing experiences with their Gladiator. It seems the Sport JT with max tow pkg would be best but would it work for my current TT? I would more than likely want nothing more than 2" lift with slightly bigger tires. It's just me, my wife and cargo. The JT Sport is listed as capable of towing more weight and higher payload than my Raptor, but the Raptor is much wider. Not sure if this matters. I really don't want to downsize TT but I have thought about it if I can get a Gladiator. Wife doesn't want to downsize camper. As they say, "Happy wife, happy life". But I'm bored with Raptor and figure I will get best of both worlds with Gladiator. What are your thoughts? Suggestions? Expert advice. Any help is much appreciated.
I towed a 3000 lb NuCamp teardrop with my Max Tow Sport. Pulled the trailer from Pennsylvania to Mississippi and had no problems. You have to get used to the truck running higher rpms pulling through the mountains and beside the tractor trailers. The pentastar is a screamer anyway, I love the way that the motor feels in the higher rpm’s . You just have to get used to it . I hit 70 and 75 a few times but stayed mostly in the 60s where the gas mileage is better. Like some of the other guys have said if you keep the trailer you have I think you’ll be happier with the raptor. The Max Tow will pull the 4800 lbs but you need to take the frontal area of the camper in to account also. The teardrop handles the wind awesome. Hope this

Thank you for sharing MemphisMississipp. Frontal area of my TT is 56 sq ft. I believe JTR and JTM are both spec'd for 55 sq ft. I've been watching videos of those towing their 6500 lb 26' TT with JTM and another with their JTR with 2" lift with 35's across 1100 miles with not to much of an issue except the infamous 3.6 stuggle when "going up hills". I pull the TT no more than 100 - 200 miles in a day to get to camp site. I would say my TT is no more than 6000 lbs when loaded. I pull it with empty tanks since we go to full hook-up sites. If I went with max tow then I would want bigger tires, which would then reduce towing capacity, so I'm thinking (hoping) JTR would fit my needs.
