A M.O.R.E. Dead Pedal for a left foot rest seemed like a good idea.
So I decided to treat myself and ordered one.
The mounting plate provides three positions to mount the pedal.
It's a devil to install so I wanted to get it right the first time.
My thinking went like this.
The driver can adjust the seat for the gas and brake pedal.
Wouldn't it stand to reason
that the dead pedal should be about even with them?
Trial fitment suggested the aftmost position would accomplish that.
But then I am a precision-sized five foot six.
Youtube videos are helpful for the install.
One good idea is to stuff a rag in the well under the brace
to keep from losing the clamp, nuts and washers in it.
After getting the studs on the clamp
through the two holes in the bracket
I stuffed another rag behind the clamp
to keep it there. Tape was suggested in videos.
A person has to be a one-armed contortionist to do this.
There is no room in the footwell for head, shoulders and arms.
Simply starting the nuts was so much trouble
that I discarded the washers.
M.O.R.E. instructions suggest using a 1/4 inch drive extension.
That would have been helpful
but the nut required a 7/16 socket.
Good luck having one of those sockets with a 1/4 inch drive.
It is nice having the footrest
but I have to remind myself to use it.
One unexpected benefit that is really paying off
is that I use the pedal to oppose the grab handle
for leverage and hoist myself in and out of the truck.
That is when I feel spry enough
to not use the hide-a-step.
Anyway, I had to buy it.
It's Rubicon RED !
