So..spoke with steersmarts warranty service, excellent customer service, they are replacing the bearing. I also asked for them to look at the old one and let me know why it failed. They agreed!
Did they ever get back to you on the cause?

My bearing had water and salt intrusion. They sent me a new unit put synthetic chassis grease on both sides of the bearing when I installed it, no issues on the new one.

Thanks for the detail!

I just put one of these on recently. The sector shaft nut they include, that has the integrated stub shaft and clip, is a slip fit to the ID of the sealed bearing. I used anti anti-seize on this shaft when i installed mine. Im pretty sure my sector shaft would freely turn even if the bearing seized for some reason. I wonder if this design is updated over previous units?

As at least 3 of you know, I tried the Steer Smarts brace last winter and the bulk of it wound up in my pond.

This thread made me realize that I did keep the bearing assembly *brand new never used*.

So if someone needs one just shoot me a PM with the mailing address.
I deleted my PayPal for reasons, so I really don't care about payment or shipping costs.
I only ask that you ask for it if you have a true need. If it's just going to sit around it can do that here.

If you read the instructions, the bearing is pressed in that way on purpose. They specifically say not to try and correct the angle.

Sorry, just installed one tonight and trolling the old threads

@Rusty PW: how do you like yours after almost a year?
No issues with it. I forget if it's even there. The steering is tight, and no noises from it.
