My buddy in Ottawa had his stolen a month or so ago from his driveway. He also has Guardian and they were zero help. Either the thieves are pulling the fuse that controls the communications hub (Guardian relies on a cell signal) or they are using signal jammers - or both.
Or just disconnecting/removing the GPS receiver, aren't they in the a-pillar ?

The club is probably the best deterrent. They can see it and know it will take some time to remove it. Easer to move on to an easer target. There is a device on the market that will communicate with the car, read it's codes, and program a new fob. The old fob is not needed. The kill switch is a good idea. They want cars they can get in and be gone. They also take the car and park it someplace hidden for 3 days just incase you have a tracker on the car.
The club has been debunked many times.. many several threads/videos on this.... full disclosure, I used to own one in the 90's.
Also, your vehicle is usually floating somewhere in the middle of the ocean within hours.

Aww.. that sucks :(

The one good reason to not get the factory trail cam then... (We actually didn't opt for it, ourselves, since I'd probably just stick a GoPro up there, with the mobile app running in the cab.

Trail cam is for viewing/picking the best route in real time, different function than the GoPro.

You have to leave them the plug cap. The Ravelco is just a wiring plug, nothing fancy enough to allow valet-style programming. Heck, even if the cap falls off while you're driving it'll shut down the truck. It's that simple.

Also, there's nothing truly secretive about it. You could make your own Ravelco pretty easily. The security isn't in the design as much as it's in the possible connection combinations it provides. They've just made a commercial solution that's good at hiding that combination and making it difficult to test for on the vehicle (through false positive wire connections). The plug cap, on the other hand, can be easily tested and the combination figured out, so handing out that cap is handing out the secret.
@ShadowsPapa I believe the ghost II has the functions you are asking about

Loved this site. This is the importance of math, peeps! It helps you be a critical thinker. FWIW, I did find the claim of millions of installations and zero losses to be a bit dubious when I first went to the site (after the first recommendation much earlier in this thread). How would they substantiate that? Bit o' humbug as they might say abroad.

By the way, all: I just called the Ravelco guy in Ontario (in St. Catherines, quite a drive from Ottawa) and for the diesel Gladiator, it'll be $899 plus tax. The Ghost II runs about $1399 if I recall correctly (from JustJeeps.com), but I don't know how good that'd be either.

It seems there's no 'best' option.
Reading up on the ghost I believe it has more functionality built into it than the Ravelco, for example you can have a separate valet code and it uses a user set sequence of dash buttons to be pushed instead of a cap.

Go pro mounted to bumper in two locations, above the wheels, streaming to mobile app.

Same function, just not integrated as well :) (wish there was a better aftermarket option, honestly)

Then the GoPro can't record, at least any recent one....

There's also horrible lag.

Lag isn't THAT bad, and now that you mention it.. I actually returned a pair of 11 Blacks last year, due to the fact they wouldn't record simultaneously.

I never looked too much into it, just went back to my old ones that still allow it (albeit, they've not had a firmware update since... sheesh.. maybe 2016 or so?).

I really WOULD like to get something a bit newer, since they're definitely showing their age. (Started out as cameras I used to strap to drones for wedding photography, and then the drone thing became a liability for wedding shoots, and required additional insurance riders.. not to mention the no-fly zones that so many brides and grooms want to record at)

Been looking for some alternatives, saw a couple of guys using a series of DJI Osmo cameras on their rigs last fall, who clearly didn't have that issue. *shrug*

Something to look into this summer, I guess.

Still they probably won't do much good when you're beloved JT is in a conex box out in the ocean, typically happens within hours.
Very true if your vehicle is stolen by a professional, but in that case, it's going bye-bye regardless of the method you use to try to prevent it. If they want it, they're getting it. Period.

The Air Tag could definitely be helpful in the case of a local thief or some kid stealing it for a joyride - which is far more common than what you're talking about (at least in my area).

Fortunately I haven't had a vehicle stolen, I had some smash and grabbers roll through the entire neighborhood, I had them on video. Thankfully all my vehicles were locked, my neighbor had a pistol and other items stolen... theft is rampant everywhere so anything you can do is better than nothing. I'm considering the Ravelco or Ghost II, just need to research more. I was really hoping someone here would eventually have a DIY for the regular guy . I think a stand alone GPS tagger would out perform the Airtag, but only if you are willing to pay the monthly fee...

I think I've decided on the Compustar T13 system with alarm. Not clear on how much engine kill functionality it will have--the owner of the local certified installation place just told me the remote start doesn't play well with kill, but other online docs say it's a feature. Anyone here have this system on their Gladiator? Would appreciate any thoughts on it. It'll be $1449 total (not including tax)... that's hefty but better than losing $30K in aftermarket updates to my rig.
