Just sold the decked unit. looking for some secure storage options for the bed. So it needs to be a hard cover looking at rollup vs retractable Budget is around 1500.
Im looking at the pace edwards
https://www.extremeterrain.com/pace...ractable-bed-cover-gloss-black-jrja36a67.html

When called they said that it was made of vinyl. In the description it says aluminum and armortek coating... What does this mean? Does this mean that its vinyl or that its aluminum with a coating to make it look like vinyl ie 60s camaros to make them look like convertibles. I also thought i saw somewhere that you could stand on this if you were 400# and lower and it wouldnt collapse. not that i plan on standing on it.

https://www.extremeterrain.com/pace...ctable-bed-cover-matte-black-m-fmja36a67.html

there is this one too, but i am not spending 1800 for it!!!!!!!!

Then there is the roll up type. I was looking at these as well. I dont really like how they roll up so big, and cant lock them in place like the retractable but I do like them better than the folding ones.

Does anybody have any reviews of these or suggestions comments.

I do IT stuff so I can buy Jeep stuff.
I have the x4s. I like it, but it doesn't do a perfect job of keep water out of the bed. It leaks enough for some water to pool up in the low spots of the bed. Could be an install error on my part, but it's not bad enough for me to take things apart to try to make it better. I keep a tub of recovery gear and tools in the bed, but since they are in their own bin a bit of water is a non-issue. I get enough security from the cover to keep my JT from being the easiest target in the parking lot. That being said, just about any bed cover probably falls victim to a good prybar.

If you decide on an x4s or any other cover, you should definitely contact Alex from @RealTruck. He's on the forum pretty regular, he's great to work with and he can likely quote you a price you won't be able to beat anywhere else. I don't exactly which lines of covers they carry, but I was pleasantly surprised by the price Alex gave me, and they were quick to deliver too.

(I don't have any vested interest in RealTruck other than having received a good deal and great service from them.)

Edit for clarity - unless you are looking for 100% water prevention - I would highly recommend the x4s.

If I were to do it over again I would probably go with the retractable x4s over the Armis hard roll up I have. You might lose a bit of room in the bed but the option of the built in track for a rack is worth the trade off.

I would second contacting @RealTruck I got a great deal on light and a track earlier this year when they were running a special.

Going on 2 years with the x4s. I would not get it again. Expensive, cheap parts that break easily, does not work well in winter/cold, sections were unpainted when I received it. Roll it back down and watch your fingers, each section has pinch points. Takes up a little too much bed space at the bulkhead when rolled up and the sides for the tracks stick out too far. Great in concept, needs some refinement and durable parts especially for the price paid. I am thinking of taking it off, but I do like having a bed cover.

I've had the 4Xs for two years now and no problems with it. There is some leakage where the tailgate meets the top but it's not much. I wonder if additional weather proofing where the two meet my even alleviate that problem. Most of my bed stays dry. What I like about it, is that I can roll it up and it doesn't block my view out the back nor does it take up bed space. Overall happy with the purchase.

Another vote for the X4S from Alex at RealTruck. Had mine for about a year now - no issues. Does what it should. For the water leakage, if you install a thick piece of weatherstripping on the underside of the cover where it meets the bed near the cab, it helps A LOT. I had a thread somewhere here where I posted what I used. I only have issues with water when I'm in a downpour now.

This is what i'm getting once i save for 6 months lol. It comes with a t-slot for bed rack accessories.

https://realtruck.com/p/roll-n-lock-m-series-xt/v/jeep/gladiator/2021/
That looks like a nice cover.

I didn't go with a retractable because I wanted to maximize space under the cover. It might sound nit-picky (heck it probably IS nitpicky), but the roll-n-lock cover cuts a small bit of space out at the front of the bed:
"Slim design canister to keep maximum use of truck bed, just 7-1/4" deep"

I have a cooler, a toolbox and few storage organizers just barely fit under my x4s cover, and I keep the toolbox strapped in tight against the front bulkhead. This is all admittedly very specific to my setup, but figured I'd share so others can decide whether this matters to them or not.

Has anyone used the ROLL-N-LOCK M-SERIES XT TONNEAU COVER in conjunction with any truck bed molle panels? I'm thinking about getting rid of the bed rack and transitioning to this but i need a place to store my powertank and a few other things.

I ran a Roll-n-lock for 15 years on my F150 so I didn't even think about it when I got the Gladiator - I just ordered one. 2 years later I'm still happy.

It does sort of emphasize how small the bed on the Gladiator is (compared to the F150) when closed, but any cover will do that.

I wish the rails with the T-slot were standard when I bought it. Buying the replacement rails is possible but pricey.
