How close were you to your previous vehicle's mpg estimate? That might help give you an indication of what to expect out of the JT. For example, if you were seeing mpg about 10-20% less than what was on the sticker of the other vehicle you can assume a similar % below in the JT.

For me, I've found going above 72 mph kills my mpg. I could be 18-20 if I wanted to stick to 70. I've been trying to stay at or below 75 lately and have been getting close to 16 mpg, which is pretty good in the winter. I average around 14.5 if I don't care how fast I go.

Manual or auto? If manual, are you using 5th or 6th on the highway and what speed?

Mines a stick, I average high 16's to maybe 17 mpg in the winter, and about 19-20 in the summer. I get better highway mileage in 5th for anything below 75 mph.

I don't think you're too far off given that winter gas makes a difference in my experience.

it's an Americana standard. I am at 16.9 now and i cruise 65 w/ cruise control to work everyday. i use the manual part of the auto trans to keep it in the highest gear i can comfortably. Stop and go is the worst. 1-4 gears usually get me 7-9 mpg. Don't spend a lot of time slowly getting to 35 mph. get there and keep RPM below or at 2k. On road trips the best i got was 19.7mpg and i have a Rubi
Thanks for this! I tried getting past third gear (automatic) more quickly on the way to work this morning after making this post. It’s counterintuitive that being a bit heavier on the pedal in second and third may actually help but I think you’re onto something. Otherwise it seems like I’m hovering in higher RPMs for too long on those gears. I’m going to keep testing this theory.

3.6L gas, 373, auto and living in central Texas. City driving is mostly flat, except for huge flyover ramps, and I drive a couple of those everyday. The weather has been waffling between 35 and 70 degrees since December.

'22 Mojave. Stock size 33" tires. Stock suspension height. I drive pretty conservative with an occasional snort to merge into traffic. Best I have ever seen is 17.1 mpg with summer fuel in the warm months. Rarely above 14 mpg in winter. The nature of the beast.

That's exactly what happened to me. I would granny it along thinking it should help but noticed the instant MPG never gets over 7-9 MPG. That's when i started just zipping to speed then cruising and it started to increase my cumulative MPG. On the freeway cruising I slide the stick to M and let it stay in 8th as long as i can handle it the bump it manually int 7th or 6th as i need to then right back to 8th. My MPG loves 2k or lower on the revs. That has been my magic number. I would say you are still in the "break-in" period. My MPG was god awful like the first 10k miles. I had to hide the gas receipts from the captain. At 4.60 a gallon it adds up quick.

Stock 2020 Rubi, 6-speed, w/28,000 miles. Most of my driving is 2-lane highway less than 60 mph with less than 10% city driving.

So when I lived in California, I was getting the same gas mileage I would assume due to stop and go traffic all the time, and I just recently moved to Texas and buy a miracle. My gas mileage went from 14 to 15 miles per gallon up to 18 to 20 miles per gallon because there is less stop and go traffic and I do have 35s on my Mojave

It would be nice to average 20-25, but especially with the over sized tires, we think we have to accept the current mpg as part of the cost of doing business.

Our $.02.

We trudge on.
