Jeep Gladiator Rock Hard Aluminum skid plate installation 6AE62D72-7FDF-46F8-A704-FAED6370F6BC

Well I’ve received the Rock Hard Aluminum skid plates and will be attempting to install this weekend.

I’ve watch their video and read the instructions but was hoping that someone that has completed the install might be able it offer some pointers or tips to keep the install time to a minimum.

Thanks in advance!!

Ok, not a direct answer. I haven’t done the skid plates, but I did go with their fron and rear bumper. Don’t over complicate it. The video on the bumpers was accurate just much speeded up in time. allow plenty of time and start. If it is like taking off the bumpers won’t be bad. It should be better since you don’t have to take out fog lights in the front and sonar in the back.

Installed and reinstalled a couple times.
1. Leave every bolt and nut loose until it’s all hanging. I got ride of mine after this past summer, but I think I started tightening with the oil pan first.
2. Use a floor jack to lift and keep the large center panel in place. It might be aluminum, but it’s still a pain to muscle around.

Why did you get rid of yours?

I broke the weld on the oil pan skid, had it repaired, and broke it again.
I’m either a bad driver off road, or wheeling too hard? I was going through some good size boulders the first time I broke it. Maybe the oil pan skid can’t take the weight of the JT when it’s resting on that part?
Regardless. I think I will go with steel.
I don’t have pics on my phone anymore, but there’s a slight bend to the oil pan skid. It’s welded on both side at that bend. That’s where it broke, twice.
