One negative of the factory style steel bumper and the big gap - you end up slushing and mudding up your own windshield in the winter when streets and roads are slushy and snow and salt covered.
Wish there was a way to fill that gap between fender and bumper..........
I have to keep washing the windshield as I drive. And that's when I'm the ONLY one on the road! It's like following a big truck too closely. The windshield is a mess.

This is what drives me to looking harder at the ARB Bondi Full Width or the AEV Full Width.. something about a bumper lining up with the fenders just looks better in my opinion.

I've not found one I liked the looks of. So many look like some blacksmith shop made them, or, like they were drawn by an anime artist. Too angular and not enough bumper.
There are a couple that I took a second look at - but more than double the price of my current bumper.

i agree. The aftermarket bumper scene sucks. I don't like the full width either and those crazy little wings to fill the gap between bumper an fender are ugly too. There is one on amazon that looks really nice similar to Factory but i think the factory one is the nicest looking one and you can stubby it on your own. Eventually id like one and the do the fender shave kit for the turns ignal lights.

Thanks for clearing that up @Hristo and @ShadowsPapa.

@Hristo did you use the aluminum skid plate that came with the bumper, or did you stick with the steel plate that came with the truck? Is the aluminum plate the same style, dimensions, etc.? Also curious if anyone's noticed a durability difference between the skid plate materials.

I used the aluminum skid plate that came with it... It bolted straight up without issues in my Mojave.

I used the included aluminum skid plate. It is the same dimensions as the Rubicon skid and it mates up to the bumper properly. The Mojave skid plate is much heavier than the included plate and the mount point is a little lower. It would also require trimming to fit.

As for durability, if you are talking about taking rock hits, the softer aluminum won't stand up as well. I'm not usually banging my front end on things though so the weight savings and fit was more important. For my trail use it has been sufficient so far.

I'm sort of in the same boat - have a basically new skid plate for the plastic bumper (steel skid plate that came on Rubicons with the plastic bumper) - never used it.

I put the steel bumper on and now I'm hoping someone can please explain to me where the skid plate goes on these things?!

I can't seem to make one fit or figure it out.......

You’ll love it, just make sure you protect it right away against rusting. Oh yeah, the license plate bracket… it doesn’t hold a chance against a 37 degree free fall on Fins and Things 😂
