Gobi warranty paint work…. Is it me or is this a different color?

My 2020 Gobi jlr just had warranty paint work done, I had bubbling paint on the hood and all four door hinges.

they removed and painted the hood and all four doors. They also replaced all of the hinges.

The hinges are all misaligned so I did not take the jeep back. I know pictures don’t always represent the real colors but this is what I see in real life

they said they painted all of the doors, but on the rear doors, it looks like it blends to the old paint where it matches. Am I losing my mind?

I 100% see what you are seeing, but, it could be the rain, angle, etc.. I am sure there is some way that one could accurately prove/confirm that these are two different shades.

I see it and it looks like to me over the rear door handle they just tried to make it match and it wasn't that great of a blend.

I hate to say it but it probably will never match 100% because of the age of the existing paint and all the UV it has been exposed to.

From what I see in the pictures the doors do look darker than the surrounding area and that back door does look like it is blended.

We will see what the body shop says. I should ask around in the Gobi thread to see who else got paint work. I’ve never noticed different colors before and I wash and hand dry the thing at least twice a month. I really like this thing

Anyone with any body shop experience? Can they blend this? Or because they are separate panels would they need to custom blend the color to match?

ZERO experience in this field, but my gut says the only fix is a full respray, as someone else mentioned, the original panels have UV exposure. With out repainting those original panels, there will likely always be a mismatch.

Newly painted areas definitely look to be a shade different than factory. Unfortunately it most likely will never be the same as factory paint.

For sure they cut corners, a body shop would have shot the entire side of the truck. The contrast pops pretty recognizably between the doors and the attempted blend is very apparent on that rear door. It's incredible that they let that roll out of the shop.

Fight this for sure. On the upside, it is so apparent that I would think regional management would step in and at this point they'd likely respray the entire truck. Just send them that last shot in full size HD.

I’ll give them a chance to make it right before going to corporate… but I want it to look right.

I’m not surprised it’s not great. When I booked the work in September, the earliest I could get in the ship was January. I waited till school vacation week last week. I dropped it off last Monday and got a call that it was finished at lunch today.
