Good morning everyone!
I'm picking up an Airstream this weekend. It has a Curt Echo plug-n-play brake controller and WDH. Do I need to do anything to my Mojave for the brake controller to work? I don't have the tow package. Thanks!

You need a hitch receiver on the back. The wiring should already be there. Since you don't have the Tow Package, your capacity is limited. How heavy is the Airstream?

@Mr._Bill beat me to it. Without the tow package, you may have less ability to tow.
If you don't have the MOPAR receiver, the 240 amp alternator and high capacity fan, you are going to have troubles.

These all have the proper wiring in place - tow package or not, so that part's not an issue.
But I'd sure as heck want to see the build sheet to see which fan and alternator that thing has in it.

Don't even try to use a WDH without the proper receiver on the back - and the MOPAR receiver is the one that will give you the higher capacity. (and on the flip side - don't tow such a rig without a WDH)

Like already asked - how heavy is that trailer? tongue weight? What receiver did you bolt on to the rear since it's not got a tow package (that means it came without a receiver!)

I pulled the manual up online. Found it interesting that the Sport advertises a towing capacity for manual transmission, one for auto, one for auto with tow package, and one for auto with max tow. Overland's also offer the same multitude of towing ratings.

But Mojave and Rubicon? Only listed as manual or auto. No mention of a Tow Package otherwise.

Curious as to why the tow package isn't considered as a difference on those two models when it is on so many others...

I believe the Rubicon and Mojave have the upgraded equipment but it is not called the max-tow package on these models because with the automatic they can only max tow 6,000 pounds with either a 330 or 350 hitch range and this is based off of suspension. I tow with my Mojave automatic and when I purchased it I got a text with the exact specifics for my VIN number. I only wanted to tow up to 5,000 so I have room to spare. I believe your airstream will put your near max of your vehicles capabilities but it will and can tow 6,000 pounds safely. Just check your weights and don't haul water in your tanks. Make sure you don't overload the bed of your truck either.

I’ll check the receiver When I get home from work. I found a vintage AIrstream Argosy that is under 3800lbs. The tow capacity for Mojave is 6k, so that should be good. The hitch weigh is just under 400lbs, so I’ll just have to keep an eye on payload. Great info. Thanks!

It came with a hitch receiver from the factory, but I have no idea which one. Thanks for all the info everyone, I’m new to RVing and towing.

If it came with a hitch receiver and light plug from the factory then you must have the tow package. I have the same.
Interesting. Yes, it came w a hitch receiver and the 7 plug outlet on the bumper from the factory. I didn’t think about those options possibly meaning it had the tow package.

They all come with the wiring and plug in the bumper. They only come from the factory with the receiver mounted under the bumper when the Tow Package is ordered.

Having a factory hitch receiver probably indicates it has the tow package. Did you buy it used? If so then maybe the previous owner installed one after purchasing it?

Here is a jeep link that can pull up your Gladiator's optional equipment listing to confirm that you have the entire tow package or not: https://www.jeep.com/webselfservice/BuildSheetServlet?vin=

Just add your VIN after the "=" sign. It worked for my Jeep.

Also, get a weight distribution hitch. The owners manual says you should use one for trailers over ~1500lbs, if I remember correctly. You will not regret it. I have a Curt brake controller too and they work great.

It was a demo truck at the dealer, so I doubt they would have added a hitch receiver.

I don't believe there were Mojaves that didn't have the full receiver. So while it didn't have a specific "tow package" option, it was still outfitted accordingly as that was the default from what I know.
