I have a simple question, that might have a complicated answer.

Has anyone tried / thought about putting a diesel gladiator tank in their gas? As it mounts on the other side. It would match the skid plate of the gas. And based off price is way cheaper than buying one of the aftermarket aux fuel tanks.

The only issue I can see with it so far is exhaust routing. Can anyone else think of any before I commit to spending $? Tie it in at the filler hole, and just connect the evap systems together?

I cannot confirm it would work, but if I were to try this, I would run 2 3/8" lines tying the 2 tanks together. One line at the bottom and the other at the top. The bottom line to transfer fuel and the top to breath. Let the 2 tanks "self balance" the fuel levels. No need to deal with the fill neck or the evap system. It will also give you a fairly accurate fuel level. The only downside that I can think of is when filling, it may take a few minutes for the fuel to equalize in both tanks so you would most likely not completely fill both.

Keep in mind I have not tried this, this is all conceptual but I did have a diesel F350 with an auxiliary transfer tank that gravity fed the main tank.

That's actually not a bad idea. Thanks!

Could you post some pictures of where the diesel tank mounts to?
I won't be under it until next week but I can snap a couple pictures then.

Found a few flaoting around on the forum:
These are both looking front to back, driver side is on the right.

The exhaust will obviously be the largest hurdle to run the tank on the driverside. But looking at the bolt holes on the diesel tank looks like they mount to the body on a few of the cross members, it would be reasonable to believe that those mounting points exist on the gas version.

Check out this thread. If you need anything up close, I can try to get it for you.

Looking at part diagrams, I'm not sure how its actually mounted.

Based off those pics I think you could go gas with a diesel tank. But not sure about the other way because of the location of the CAT. (Unless you get funky with it) the only issue I think is going to be finding where to put the exhaust on a gas. Which is great news!

So I'm not sure how doable it is the way id like to, but here's my idea. (ignore my nasty underbelly, I hit some nasty mud this week)

Cross behind the Tcase to centerline. And go above the drive shaft with some oval exhaust tubing.

Then I'd have to redo where the park brake cables route, but they should still be long enough. Just to tuck them to each side of the fuel tanks then to the control arms. Who cares that's fairly easy.

and should be able to squeeze through there with some oval tubing and a layer of thermal barrier. Then dump it out the passenger side like a diesel, because that's where the Gasser tank ends is right behind this intermediate shaft.

Also yup all the holes are there already!

With a little fab work, this is a great idea.

Point of interest: The C5 Corvettes have two fuel tanks, one on each side. There are hoses that tie them together. No problem filling both to max simultaneously.

Don’t forget to account for the upward movement of the front driveshaft. Like, remove the front springs and let it sit on the front bumpstops - that’s how much room you actually have for the crossover

Should be good on the front, leaving it stock till beside the Tcase so that cross over is stock. There's not enough room between the Tcase / Tcase mount / stock tank to fit the exhaust without a lot of work

Got to thinking...

The range estimate may be off. I assume that the estimate is based on a stock capacity tank. If you add another 20 gallons, then range shown may be half of what you'll actually have.
