We had some bad hail and my insurance company is covering for a new hood. I have a 2023 Gladiator - none Rubicon or Mojave. I could just go with an an exact replacement but I started thinking that since they are going to replace the hood and repaint it, maybe I should consider an upgrade. Looking for recommendations. and costs.

Asking us to recommend a hood is like asking us to recommend a significant other. Blond, brunette, redhead, lite, dark…. It’s all your decision. Lots of options out there.
Only thing I’d say is don’t cheap out. I hear fit and finish can very greatly with aftermarket body panels. Search the major retailers. Have fun and post a picture when it’s done.

My personal favorite is the Mojave, but it would require different mounting brackets/cowls so that's likely off the table unless you cough up the difference. The Rubicon hood would be worth looking into, though its more complex with more pieces so again might cost you a bit out of pocket.

If you go base hood, don't take the insurance payout, just have them bill your insurance directly to keep you out of the equation. If you go Rubicon, get separate quotes for the base and Rubicon swap, have your insurance pay you for the sport swap, then cover the cost of the Rubicon out of pocket after you get their payment.

I've been eyeing this style replacement hood for my sport, comes optionally paint matched as well, although I would rather have a body shop take care of it. It's a steel hood as well, should fit better than fiberglass will, and the vents are the same as the Mopar Mojave and Rubicon vents, so you should be able to buy replacements/aftermarket options.

This one is sweet but it says it needs to ship to a business. Not sure if that's a pain or not.

Too easy have it shipped to the bodyshop that will paint and install it; I've done it dozens of times before. Just be sure to give the shop owner or manager a heads up

Well there is a saying “Steel is Real”, I can say the Jeep Mojave and the Export Jeep hoods are steel. I have no dents in my Mojave hood, but wife’s Wrangler JL and my work 2017 work F-250 with military grade aluminum body have dents from acorns, Walnuts and perhaps hail. The Mojave hood is heavy though. Sure are some nice aftermarket options out there now…..Jack

Mopar actually sells a Mojave hood kit that includes everything you need (including the cowl panels, weather stripping, insulation, etc.) for $1,090.00 to put it on a non Mojave Gladiator or Wrangler. Not too bad a deal. Mopar sells a similiar kit to put a Rubicon hood on something (without the cowl panels of course, because you don't need them) but ironically it costs more money.

Would love to hear from someone who has installed the Rockmonster hood. Not sure if it comes with the Hood Scoop Vent or side vents - says $300 for "Custom laser cut Vents".

Looking at the JL forums, I'm guessing it came with the stock Rubi vents with it, as this owner only had to strip the bump stops from their old one. The laser cut vents are just some custom gladiator vents that you can see on their website.

Does anyone have any idea of weight difference between steel Mojave versus aluminium Rubicon hood?
