Hey all........ 2020 JT with 62K Miles....... getting a pronounced whizzing sound from the front of the motor. It is in sync with Engine RPM, and gets no better, or no worse once warmed up.......... did a quick check of fluids as it sounded like a dry Power Steering pump bearing screech........ but all fluids good and engine is bone dry and no drips of any kind underneath or on driveway.
So Idler bearing? Alternator Bearing? Some bearing up front........... anyone have a similar issue happen before on their JT?

Take the serpentine belt off and disconnect the cooling fan when the engine is cold and start it up. If the squeak goes away, it's one of the accessory pulleys or the fan making the noise. Turn the pulleys and fan by hand to see which one is making the noise and grease or replace it as the bearing is likely shot. If not, the sound is internal to the engine and you need to take it in or tear it apart to find the noise.

My bet is one of the accessory pulley bearing is on its last leg.

Yeah, it definitely sounds like a Tension idler pully bearing........ just was curious if anyone else had one fail. It's on the original belt, so it's time to replace that as well.

Do any of your idler pulleys look like the seal is broke and it’s greasy/dirty?
Not really, but my eyes aren't what they used to be. I did spray a touch of silicone spray on a small area of belt........ it actually toned it down a little........ but just a couple of numbers...... like it was an "8", and now its a "6"

May be way off course buy I have to share I just found ( 3-4 weeks ago) a pump/motor in front of area that would be a water pump on an old V8 (between radiator and engine) . Mine was cycling/noisy and I had never heard that before? May be normal. I think it attached up to the manifold OR the brake power booster ( I'll go look). 2020 Sport, MaxTow.

Status Update: Diagnosed as the Clutch drive on the Alternator. Cannot replace just the clutch pulley, has to get a whole new alternator. Out of warranty...... $700

Really do not hear of much of alternators going out on these early. For that kind of money, I would be seriously looking at some salvage pulls from Ebay or elsewhere and doing the job myself.

In theory though, having it replaced new at the dealership will come with a two year unlimited mileage MOPAR part warranty. So there is that.

The bad thing is....... the alternator works great, but the centrifugal clutch inside the pully is failing. It's a shame that it wasn't made to just be able to R&R the Clutch Pully and leave the alternator. Maybe a later version will.

I thought the part had the 2 year warranty regardless...... only installation isn't covered if you DIY.
Won't cover any labor inclusion, but........

I'd go salvage yard and I'm afraid my experience with alternators and alternator parts "after-market" is not good. I get a lot of stuff sent to me for repair and reman and after-market charging system parts and starter parts are something I won't use personally.
Some may be fine - but it's not been my experience. The bearings are usually very inexpensive imports.

For me - salvage yard or OEM on alternator stuff.

In this case, the piece Hootbro listed appears to be the OEM supplier for the alternator clutch to begin with
