The new grille is indeed a significant cooling upgrade. It's just flowing a lot more air than the old one. The old grille was so restrictive that they had to switch the mesh to open up more space in the JT. Is the new grille going to drop your coolant temp 15 degrees, I doubt it, but its not hard to see how it's just better flowing.

I'm curious what the difference would be if you could put the new mesh on the old grille (or modify the mesh on the old grille to open it up a little more). Just opening up that mesh within the open slots to be more like the new grille seems like it would help.

Lat/Long in the first photo is in Grand Rapids, Michigan(42°56'45.0"N 85°40'32.0"W). Second one is in Middleborough, Massachusetts (41°55'52.0"N 70°57'52.0"W).

That is a pretty big geographic spread for a comparison. I welcome anybody to double check my numbers for a sanity check.

This makes much more sense than dropping $700-$900.
The larger openings do concern me about rocks and other stuff getting through.
Have you removed the engine cover to improve cooling as well?

Top photo also has the outside temp display cropped off. I would expect back to back lat/long location within a reasonable distance and same day like temps data before making any serious claims.

Not saying the guy was being nefarious, but I would not draw conclusions from just those pictures.

Yes. I noticed that as well.
I was intending to snoop the GPS coordinates, and I did see the elevation variances, but I didn't look closely enough to see that they were several states apart.
BTW - The author disabled commenting on his FB post. ?

You don't have to say it. I will. If the original presenter of those temps used pics from half a country away, he is using someone else's picture and controlling absolutely zero variables. Meaning he's either being purposefully nefarious, or obliviously nefarious.

Comparing new grille in the artic circle during winter vs old grille in death valley during summer would be no more useful. Shit at this point we might as well be testing a diesel Rubicon vs a manual sport. Fuck it, let's throw a 4xe JLU driving all battery into the mix. If the results mean nothing let's get creative.

Put the grill on if you like the look. Any additional benefits will be minor
@Gren71 does pretty good ‘scientific’ real world tests. I would trust his results, lack of results or any information he provides.

@Ryan... I can remember welding intake ports on small block Fords, essentially making smaller runners but increasing velocity and hp. That was when I learned that there is serious voodoo involved in aero/fluid dynamics.

Boss 302 heads. I can remember guys welding and using epoxy to reduce the runner size.

I %100 agree.

I just enjoy trying to do the testing. Ill start recording data with and without my camper so i have a baseline. I’ll probably order the inserts tomorrow
