33k miles, engine light on at 700 miles, multiple dealer ts events, cams and lifters replaced earlier this year and software update afteer that, just left my Gladiator at a Canadian Jeep dealer mid-trip to Waterton Park from Tacoma area with check engine light going crazy and Gladiator engine shuddering at stops AND at highway speeds. No rentals at dealer or all local rental shops until Friday and no public transportation. Renting a uhaul truck to finish the trip because the dealer can't get to it until next week. How does buy back work? ?

I would not be surprised if they make you ship your vehicle back to a USA dealership before there is any movement on a buyback.

With all of that taking place across national borders, the fact a truck needed to be rented at a long distance, and if they insist the truck come back here - the extreme costs involved with that (in the classic car hobby, you know about the costs of transporting vehicles), I'd be conferring with a local dealer and in the background, without telling any dealers or even Jeep, be consulting an attorney. i'd document every penny it has cost - truck rental, shipping jt back if needed and so on. Don't tell the dealer you have talked to an attorney - at least in my opinion, I'd do that on the quiet, but that way you'd have information in your head when you spoke with the local dealer and/or Jeep.
First time they hear you mention "attorney" things seem to change.
That's my take - save that revelation for when you need more leverage.

No. Jeep is in Cranbrook - super helpful team but busy. Visiting Waterton Park for a couple days then heading home to Tacoma. Will need to fly back to Cranbrook to pickup my Gladiator when it's complete. ?

Thank you for the advice! I'm really leaning toward a lemon law action based on the history to-date. No faults found several times in the shop then physical engine damage, then no faults found/software update, and now likely engine damage again. Terrified of a no faults found/software update corrective action again. ?

Yeah, most likely. I'll see what the dealership finds out in a few days, hopefully they find something actually wrong and it isnt a simple CEL reset, no faults found. ?

Got my Gladiator back next day, turned out to be simply a bad plug. Evidently uses some Champion “hi-tech” plugs factory installed in these engines. Next oil change, want to replace them all with Bosch plugs, if it doesn’t become warranty issue. Any plug recommendations?

Law of averages just caught up with you and got a bad plug. Most mechanics will tell you to stick to OEM branding regardless.

That being said, I put a set of Autolite plugs in my 2020 Gladiator without issue but still would have sticked to the OEM Champions if not in a time crunch back then. Whatever brand you decide on, someone is going to have some 2nd hand horror story about them.

Be prepared for about a 4 hour job if DIY-ing it yourself. Upper intake has to come off to get access to the drivers side head plugs.

Holy crap ! No more of the “easy” plug changes, huh ? No wonder I couldn’t find the plugs when I was looking in there. Sounds like might be best to cross my fingers and keep rolling with what I have. Can’t even imagine the labor cost for what should be a relatively quick, easy job.

I have not seen a Youtube specific video on the JL or JT to change the spark plugs, but there is plenty of them on the JK that is about 90% the same process but is the prior gen Pentastar.

More involved than what I want to get into, unless I can locate specific details on the task. Have two older V8 powered vehicles in my garage that I would much rather work on. Meanwhile, just keep my fingers crossed.

Plug change interval is a 100K mile service per the owners manual. Some people though have reported starting to have problems around the 80K mile range so it is something to keep in mind that will eventually have to be addressed.
