I think the odds of a V8 Gladiator are not zero, but are pretty damned close to it ? Thinking that might be a factory option is a waste of time imho.
IF they somehow roll out the I-6 Hurricane, it will be next year at the earliest = there is no way it will be in any JL/JT before the Ram trucks.
If they do a 4xe, expect it to be derated due to heat when towing.
So exactly what’s left if you want more than a 3.6l? Order a diesel, get it by Christmas, and enjoy it.

Not sure about that. Ordered mine Aug 14th and was just notified today by the dealer that the expected ship date is the 25th of this month. Much sooner than I was expecting so will see. May end up getting delayed but doesn’t matter to me.
the stop sale is still in effect, I just talked to the dealer yesterday where my brand new JTRD is sitting, no fix yet. I ordered Jan 23rd ish I can't remember the exact day, it arrived at the dealer late April, and it's been there ever since, waiting for the fix so it can be sold to me. If you are able to take possession of it I would be very curious about the circumstances. I talk to Jeep cares every couple of weeks as well to see, and get the same canned response about no fix has been identified.

Yeah who knows, they are probably going to do the same thing with mine, build then put in storage.

I doubt the ‘24 gets a power plant like the hemi or hurricane. A plug-in hybrid is likely, but it will likely compromise towing and payload even more than the ecodiesel ever did. Full float axles and the updated infotainment is coming I’d bet. Some other aesthetic changes such as the front grill is likely to match the Wrangler as well.

For the remaining 23’s I doubt they fixed the heat soak and oil temperatures in the diesel. I’ve had had heat soak once, derating never, but it is always in the back of my mind. The HPFP should be “fixed” on the last batch of ‘23’s, running the “bad” pump makes me somewhat concerned but I’ve been fine for almost 23k miles now. I don’t regret getting the diesel one bit though, it hasn’t bitten me, yet at least.

You could order a gasser 3.6 ‘24 and take the money saved on the diesel to gear the diffs appropriately for a 37 or whatever tire you may upsize to. You could save even more dough by getting a ‘23.

Just my .02.
With my 21 diesel, 35,000 miles I'm am getting double the miles on our off road trips as my buddy's with jk's. I am loaded down and my gas wrangler friends can't keep up on the hills. Love the diesel

i appreciate this insight truly and it’s been a worry and also part of why I waited for so long was waiting to see if they fixed it a little bit
From before the gladiator let alone diesel was a thing, I wanted one. On paper it is almost perfect but then the reality is not what it could be. These aren't the diesels of yore, or even the pre-urea DPF diesels. Perhaps in a different timeline with a fully mechanical fuel pump and high sulfur diesel it would be the option.

In 2023 going 24, I'd go with gas as much as it is sad to say. The de-rate and HPF threads on here stretch dozens upon dozens of pages. The 3.6 in all it's vanilla glory is a workhorse or as much of one as you're going to find in a modern jeep. It's a good motor, remind yourself it's a good motor and drive a buddy's JTRD some day.

I love my diesel JL and JT. Can't imagine owning a gasser after having these with diesels. But I can understand the apprehension since Jeep has decided to abandon the project.
and can't or refuses to fix the fuel pump recall issues

Well I guess now I either bite the bullet and find a steal on a diesel or hope for one or just keep waiting idk… kinda just bummed out with that reveal… not even the full float for the gladiator is kinda like well okay…. But idk guess wait and see if they do anything to fix the diesel, it’s like if it’s the fuel pump causing the issues why not just do a different fuel pump?

Just dealing on a diesel right now. It’s being shipped currently. They are not moving on the price AT all. Salesman said in their morning meeting that they are to stick to full retail as the diesel is not being made anymore. Has me raked over the coals on this. For how much truth there is to it, he says I was the first one to inquire about it over a month ago, while it was still at the factory. After me, there are 4 others waiting to buy it. So he says.
not really sure what to do at this point. I most certainly don’t want the ’24.

Yeah it’s very much I don’t care for what the 24 brings at this point the stuff the 22 and 23 hell even the 21 has is good enough for me I just want the diesel and for it to not give me a heart attack worth of stress

I’m not opposed to parting ways with mine, still under warranty with a bit of work done.

Sorry, not sure what you mean? Email Kent?
im with Dyzard.I’d gladly buy a used one as well. If it matches what I’m looking for, I’m all for it. Just not that many for sale in Canada.
I’ve looked nationwide and other than what’s on FB there’s only about 48 nationwide at dealers and some private party down here

Oh, didn’t realize you were in Canada.

Kent is my salesman in Idaho, in the thread I linked above irrc, he’s open to doing like 6-7% below invoice.
