Greetings,

I bought a gladiator sport last weekend with the "off road group". It is not a max tow. I'm trying to figure out exactly what I have. Some of this may belong in a different section, so I apologize in advance.

The internet tells me that the "off road package" comes with an "upgraded sport suspension", but I can't seem to find what that actually consists of anywhere online. Is it any different from a Sport without the "off road group"? If so, how? The build sheet lists "Sport Suspension". The build sheet also lists "Front Heavy Duty Shock Absorbers" and "Rear Heavy Duty Shock Absorbers", again, are these different from a non-off road package Sport?

In addition to this, the build sheet has "anti-spin differential rear axle". Is this a trac-lok? If so, I didn't realize you could get that without the max tow in a sport.

Last question. Does anyone know what " CONV DIFF FRT AXLE W/DISCONNECT " means on the build sheet?

Thank you.

It is easier to read it on the build sheet to see what is added above the regular Sport package.

This is every Gladiator and Wrangler.

It means the FAD...Front Axle Disconnect. The Axle is disconnected in 2WD to gain .01 MPG.

You are so optimistic.

The thing of interest - and maybe many don't realize this - but just adding the auxiliary switches alone gets you the 700 amp battery and 240 amp alternator.
So, the only real difference from any other sport with aux switches is the springs, shocks, black wheels as opposed to the usual silver, and MT tires.
I almost have an off-road group.................. just missed it, darn.

My impression is that the off-road group is basically a max tow without the wider axles and 4.10 gears. I’m pretty sure it’s got most of the same stuff.

I'm with you. Glad I went with Sport S though. I'm too lazy to live without power locks and windows.

You're right.

It's only missing the...

- Tires
- Axles
- Gears
- Rear limited slip
- Hitch
- HD engine cooling (higher amp fan)
- Trailer hitch zoom
- Different springs

It's almost like the only thing they have in common is the alternator

Yeah, the off road group takes away some of what makes the MT.
