The crazier thing is I can't even use my sun visors since I look out the top 2" of the windshield with my seat in the lowest position. If it weren't for the wiring I could simply remove mine.
yep I have no clue why they exist other than to get in the way of the soft top clips. If I pulled mine down I would be completly blind

It's pretty trivial to remove, you just need to pop off the trim above the doors and above the windshield and they unplug. Been debating about removing my driver side and replacing it with a bracket for my Switch Pros.

Clips don't solve the problem of the visor being mostly useless for us tall people in the first place. It wasn't about fixing the issue, it's about removing a useless part and utilizing the mounting point for something else.

With 3000 miles on my JT, the driver's side sun visor pivot came out of the boss in the panel that bolts to the header. After removing the panel (two sheet metal screws, T25), I could see that there was a plastic ring broken off, which would normally keep the sun visor "rod" in place. The rod is actually a tube with wires through it, for the garage door opener switches.
A replacement is on order under warranty, but the dealer said it is back ordered until August 13. Of course, August in Vegas is when you most need a sun visor. Moreover, the cost is $500 for the assembly, so you definitely won't want to break one when out of warranty. Maybe Jeep Cares can help. I wish the design were easier to repair with cheap parts. I didn't think I did anything risky so worry that it could break again.

amazon has holding brackets that will hold it in place. like it was never broke.

It is not 500. I bought one when I was in warranty from BAM and it was 100 or so. My garage door opener wouldn’t work and the dealer was being pricks about it. Works fine now.

I agree with Charlie, I installed these as a preventative measure. 10-minute job, sure beats a replacement that will eventually break again.
