Sorry if this has been asked (and answered) previously already. I searched a few threads but have not been able to get a solid answer.
Does anyone know the weight of:
- The Stock Rubicon Steel Front Bumper?
- The stock Mojave Plastic Front bumper?

Looking to replace my Mojave with either MB Concepts Aluminum or the Rubi Steel. The difference in weight will determine if I put a winch on it or not.

Thanks!

70lbs without the skid for the steel + 16lbs with the skid

36lbs for the plastic with the tow hooks allegedly, + 16lbs with the skid

word of notice, you’ll either have to trim the Mojave skid or run the rubicon skid with either bumper. I don’t think the Mojave skid and mopar steel bumper work without some finagling.

THANK YOU!!!!
Yeah, I was originally thinking of getting the Chinese knock-off Rubi-steel bumper and trimming the skid plate, but decided I'd rather just make life easy and use the Rubi skid.

But when I found out about the MB Concepts bumper - which comes with an aluminum skid too - weighing it at 41lbs I'm just gonna go that route. If I miss the silver skid plate that much, I'll just have it powder-coated silver.
Given the weight savings, I think I'll opt with a winch. The plastic and aluminum cancel each other out, so an added 65-70lbs for a winch should be negligible.

Thanks again!

Waiting myself to see what the deal is with the Mojave X metal bumper.
I’m hopefully that it will bolt up with the current Mojave skid plate and no swapping or trimming of said skid plate.

Doubt it. If you look at them:

Jeep Gladiator OEM Bumper Weight? Rubi-Steel vs. Plastic? maxresdefault

They're black, not silver like all previous Mojave's with plastic bumper. They aren't going to make a separate steel bumper just for the Mojave. The silver Mojave steel plate was specifically made for a plastic bumper.

All but guarantee it's just Rubicon parts bin like much of the Mojave.

Used Rubi steel plates sell for like $125 all day long. Just swap it.

You’re probably right. Good catch as I’ve not looked too much into it just yet. Why wait then lol just can go grab a Rubi steel bumper….

FWIW I have the MP Concepts aluminum bumper. I weighed all the plastic bumper parts coming off, and all the new parts going on. With the MP Concepts bumper, a Warn VR10 Evo winch, and a Grimm Jeeper winch plate (long story), aluminum brush guard in place of the steel Rubicon skid - total came to +73 lbs. I can look up more numbers if you want.

I say brush guard as it's definitely not as burly as the original steel piece - but it hasn't mattered, I don't tend to make contact there.

I installed the MP Concepts bumper assembly to my Mojave and added a Rough Country 12,000lb pro winch a few weeks ago and it didn't change the height of the front end one bit.
It actually smoothed out the bumps and rollers a little.

Thanks! That's great (and reassuring) to hear! I hadn't intended on going with a winch that powerful, but I may now after reading that!

If I remember right that winch weighs 65 lbs.

When you say brush guard, you mean the skid plate right? (Not the bumper itself). I just wanted to make sure I read that right.

I don't really make contact with the skid-plate either... maybe loose gravel, or ice chunks in the wintertime. Do you know how much the MB Concepts aluminum skid/brush guard weighs? I know the steel Rubi one is about 16lbs. Just want to compare... if its not that much of a difference, I may use the Rubi skid. I have one laying around that a friend gave me.

I read your story about the MB winch plate... yikes. I will definitely upgrade the MB plate. I saw a few options on Extreme Terrain, but since you have positive experience with Grimm Jeeper, might opt for that.

Thanks again!
