I just learned that the gen 2 smart tags are not compatible with my s20+ so either have to upgrade my phone to a newer model or have to source the original smart tags.

This is directly off SAMSUNG's Website =
Only available with ultra-wideband (UWB) enabled Galaxy smartphones running Android 11.0 or higher (Galaxy Note20 Ultra, S21+ and Ultra, S22+ and Ultra, S23+ and Ultra, Z Fold2 and up).

But on the Samsung Spec page it says GALAXY S20 .. but no mention of 20NOTE then is the specs elsewhere it says the NOTE 20 is compatible ? Maybe all 20 series are compatible ? I may call Samsung for better clarification.

Requires Samsung Galaxy smartphones or tablets running Android 11.0 or later with 3GB or more of free RAM; user must opt into the SmartThings Find app and be logged in to Samsung Account. Bluetooth range of up to 120m without obstacles; if Galaxy SmartTag2 is out of range, Galaxy Find Network will be used to track (Galaxy Find Network accuracy based on opt-in Galaxy users who are in range of the SmartTag).

2) Consistent with IP67 rating, water resistant in up to 1M (3 feet) of water for up to 30 minutes. Rinse residue / dry after wet.

3) Through the SmartThings app, allows 2 preset conditions at a time. A preset condition can be either an IoT device or a SmartThings routine.

4) Expected performance based on typical use with in-box CR2032 battery. Actual battery life may vary depending on different usage patterns, environmental conditions, the replacement battery manufacturer, and other factors.

5) Non-Power Saving Mode, expected battery life under typical usage conditions is up to 500 days. Power Saving Mode is limited to basic Bluetooth finding functions (for example, Search Nearby signal indicator and map).

6) Requires Bluetooth, range up to 120m without obstacles; accuracy may be reduced if there's an obstacle between you and the tag, such as when the tag is inside a drawer, behind a wall, or in a car. Samsung Account log-in and registration on SmartThings Find app is required.

7) Only available with ultra-wideband (UWB) enabled Galaxy smartphones running Android 11.0 or higher (Galaxy Note20 Ultra, S21+ and Ultra, S22+ and Ultra, S23+ and Ultra, Z Fold2 and up). Samsung Account log-in and registration on SmartThings Find app is required.

8) Accessories sold separately. Color and availability may vary by carrier and retailer.

9Must opt in via SmartThings app and pre-register your email. Finder's device must support NFC reading and be connected to Internet.

So I have received official confirmation for Insurance paying for the theft claim less my deductible of $500. I really thought that the damage was going to be estimated a lot higher.

yeah the radio headunit is $2400 or so according to my local dealer who replaced one in a Grand Cherokee I had a few years ago. I would tell them to pay for it themselves if they can get all of that stuff for that price. I would definitely not agree to that

UPDATE : 1-3-24

I REVIEWED THE VIDEO SURVIELANCE WHERE MY JEEP WAS PARKED.

I am even more pissed off now knowing how long this 1 kid took to jack my Jeep. No it was not 2...3 minutes. This fooker was in my Parking spot sitting inside my jeep for 30 EXACT MINUTES:mad: until he started it and drove out of the garage and into the night...

He was most likely dropped off by someone in another vehicle on the street outside the building...

He went straight to my Jeep as if he knew it was there. Possibly had been there on a prior day to stake out the area and what not.

They are invoicing the radio part number 68417861AO through LKQ which is a auto salvage recycler. So he is basically getting a used radio. New, that part number shows up for around $1400 from the various MOPAR parts houses.

I think the invoice pricing of the used unit from LKQ is low at $456, but it will no where near be $2400 for replacement radio.

Maybe the 2400 included the labor price but thats what the guy said. It was replaced under warranty so I didn't pay anyway.

Yes ! I am very relieved I found it ! I do not think they had enough time to do what they really wanted to do with my Jeep but screw them .. I do not think after they Ripped the Radio Out to disable the GPS that an air tag would foil their theft as i found my jeep super-fast.. although with the stuff they did take was a really nice score for them and a $1000 or more hit for me...... but honestly, I am now going to be a nervous wreck after I get it back and all secured better... I hate Thieves!

No more Joy rides. His name is Michael .. he only takes orders via the phone #.I told him i was going to tell the jeep family about his device ..I was on the phone with him yesterday for over an hour. he was a pleasure to deal with...he does not have a template of the Gladiator Brake / Gas placement as these devices are custom made / vehicle specific .. I will be his 1st Gladiator, so i will go to the dealer on Monday to take some photos of my jeep to send him to start making the GLADIATOR model for my Mojave. if you call him you can mention my name as a reference. Have a good night Jack !
I grew up in S. FL

Getting things stolen and broken into was a part of life there.

That place should be renamed Mos Eisely.

I suppose keeping your pet gator in the JT would be considered a booby trap?

From the news -

One in thirty Oakland residents had their car stolen last year (2023) as 15,000 vehicles were stolen – a 45 percent increase in just a year.

That figure is the highest in 15 years.

However, less than five percent of those auto theft cases lead to an actual arrest.
Only two police officers are assigned to deal with car theft.

The epicenter of this surge lies in Uptown and North Oakland, which witnessed a shocking 69 percent spike in car thefts, according to data from the Police Department and the state.

In 2022, police made arrests in only about 4.5 percent of auto theft cases.

I was wondering how this Smart tag would work out. Today was the first excursion out in public with the Gladiator and mounted Smart tag. Part in an airport parking garage, it appears to have only had one point of contact in the history. It is parked next to the walkway that most people use. I'm guessing it was my wife's phone that sensed it and that's it.

Edit several hours later ,

I am getting several pings now. I guess there are plenty of people with Samsung phones that these tags might be helpful.
