Glad you got it back.

Uconnect tracking is useless if the thieves are decent “pros” first thing is cut of the gps antenna and or disable the system via the CAN bus.

Rear glass is not laminated safety glass like the front glass, that’s why they hit that. Hook up a programmer to the security gateway, remove your fobs, program their own and off they go.

Three tiers of security that actually work-

- compustar alarm with the T13 remote kit, and AlarmIT bundle which comes with the DASII shock and window break sensor so you’d have been alerted via the drone mobile app (telematics and gps system it comes with) and the alarm would have sounded and immobilized the starter.

- Ravelco, hardwired into factory harness at various locations, when installed by a proper qualified installer and not a moron on YouTube like the silly videos I’ve seen posted here and other forums by people, it’s generally undetectable, you carry a plug that completes the circuit and without that the car is dead. Installers come to your house, probably chuck and Megan since it’s Florida they do the east coast), they are great. Stops you from using remote start since you take the plug when you leave.

- IGLA, more a CAN Bus firewall anti theft system, PIN code system, had a nifty service mode feature also for giving your car to dealer for service. Prevents key programming unless PIN code is entered to disarm it. Works well. Hidden in the car.

I’ve had both Ravelco and IGLA, would recommend them both, definitely tho the compustar is a necessity. The factory alarm is useless, has no shock and/window break sensors, just a door handle entry deterrent.

In this case good example of an AirTag like product working, the pros do check for those, but a win is a win.

Hopefully not expensive to fix, and you’re back on the road soon. I hope they catch the pricks.

Thank you for your advice and info .. I am definitely soaking in all the advice from all of you as my Jeep gets repaired. Not much damage I think?.. No Accident Damage.. Very Tiny Dent on Rear Tail Gate.. Busted Back Driver Side Window.. Busted Latch Handle off Glove Box... Missing Radio Head, Reprogramed Key Fobs.. And all my stuff that was taken that I was too lazy to take out (Which will never happen again as My jeep will be empty with nothing left in it at all going forward). Insurance is covering it less the $500 Deductible. About 2 GRAND worth of my stuff they took from under the back seat.. (Toughbook Laptop / Mobile Printer / NOCO Jump Pack / Tool Set / Saunders Metal Clip Board box... and maybe some other stuff cause honestly i didn't really look too closely honestly before the Tow Truck came and brought it to Jeep Dealer.

The Appraiser scheduled to arrive 1-3-24 .. I should know more after that on the timeframe. I have other Vehicles so I am good with Transportation, but I used the Jeep 99.99999% of the time as its the Best Jeep I ever drove. This Mojave is like riding on a cloud of air.

As for catching the culprits I doubt anyone will be caught .. perfect fingerprints on Broken Glass window but no Fingerprint Techs working that day .. Go Figure .. so no prints taken .. as for video in the building .. there are video cameras...I need to look tomorrow if anything was captured worth turning over to the police.

Glad insurance is taking care of it. Sucks we have to live with this bullshit these days.

I unfortunately work on the run lots of times and need stuff inside my vehicle for my "mobile office" per se. I got very lazy taking things in and out as I'm in the Bail Bond business and I'm back and forth to the jail so many times 24hours a day 7 days a week I tend to leave a few things behind as I am always back to my vehicle within a few hours or less .. when I parked my jeep that night I had just finished posting someone's bonds and was in my place just working in my house on the computer doing bail stuff.. and I was about to go to sleep about 615am for a quick nap but got called for another Bond and this is when I found it gone. I have since just got another 2nd carry back pack and thats where I will keep my mobile printer and laptop. I will carry them into my house after I get out of the vehicle from now on. Its a headache to shlep all this stuff back and forth but I will never want to deal with this headache of having to replace the stuff stolen again. Yes, My Jeep will be empty when I get it back as I am not leaving even a penny in the jeep from this point forward (Except for my Samsung Tags ! =) ).

I actually bought 4 more tags and they will go in my other vehicles immediately.
I was bad to leave stuff in my vehicles that I should not have like guns, wallet, and work badge which is bad because of where I work. Living in N. Miami for a while broke me of that even though I have yet to have anything stolen from anyone that didn't have permission to enter my vehicles. My neighborhood here in Tennessee was a hotspot for thieves who were checking for unlocked car doors and rummaging through cars because we are near a public boat ramp and have a lot of trees surrounding the back of most of our homes. It's crazy what all has been stolen from vehicles here. We all now have cameras and more lights and one of my neighbors posted the thieves faces all over social media twice. The local city police department called and asked him to remove the videos because they had an open investigation. He told them to make an arrest and he would

Sorry for the troubles. I have been running a total of 4 mechanical and two electronic devices on my jeeps and taco over the last year here in socal too as the thefts and crime has also increased. I've been considering the galaxy tag over the last couple of months and now your story is motivating me to get them for our vehicles. Especially since I just heard a coworker had his jeep stolen from our work garage last week and it was found in Mexico using an aftermarket gps tracker. Luckily he got his jeep back too but what a hassle. I have another coworker at work who owns a 392 and I keep bugging her weekly about her parking at work without any security at all. She's gonna learn the hard way.

I highly recommend Ravelco
I live in San Francisco bay area and if my jeep gets stolen chances are that the police will not respond for hours or days
If I locate my jeep and try to recover it I will probably get shot
Ravelco is my best defense

https://www.ravelco.com/index.html
Worth a read, with an open mind especially if one already have it installed because one bought in the sale speech.
https://ravelco.fun/?en

TLDR: Ravelco is mostly snake oil in 2024 and source of electrical issues depending on one’s luck with the installer. The article from the researchers goes into details about the functioning, math and why it's actually 3 combinations and not 100’000. It's actually quite hilarious the claims Vs reality. Should be a BBB investigation material. Lol.

Some of the statement in this are true and some are faults https://ravelco.fun/?en
1. My Ravelco is mounted high on the dash and out of reach of my knee
2. The shielded wiring loom is way up in the dash making it very hard to get to
3. To get to the loom in the engine compartment I had to remove 3 components so the installer could access the install. The install took 2.5 hours
4. I watched the entire install and I did not count the wires put there where a lot more then just 5 in the Ravelco loom.
5. Thieves want to in drive away in 3 minutes . Not going to happen with my jeep

I have 6 levels of protection
1. The horns and wires have been move to a different location so they can not be disabled
2. I have a Tazer and turned on hood latch alarm and use the 4 pin code that must be entered to stop the ABS from going into 4 wheel lock
3. A snorkel runs over my fuse box and can not be accessed without removing the snorkel
4. Faraday Bags for the key fobs
5. Ravelco. Hardest point to defeat
6. I always park my jeep in a well light high traffic area
Can all this be defeated. Yes. Put not in 3 minutes

Ravelco topic eventually turns into a oil or politics thread given enough time.

Been following along the last day or so, sorry to hear this happened to you, but happy you were able to recover. Lots of good thoughts on how to better secure our vehicles here, many I haven’t ever considered, some that I may actually invest in. (Air tags, tazer pin and security case, valet mode, obd case, keeping glove box always locked, etc)

That said, I’m a believer in the fact that if thieves want it bad enough, they’re going to get it, whatever “it” is. I’ll do things to make them work for it, but I’m certainly not one to spend gobs of money and make it a huge pita for myself to live with my truck day in and day out having to install a half dozen contraptions every time I park somewhere, but that’s just me. Maybe if it was something super rare or irreplaceable, but otherwise insurance can replace it as far as I’m concerned. Plus, who knows what damage these types of idiots cause that aren’t immediately known. In your case, they only went a couple miles, so I’m sure there is no hidden mechanical damage, but in some cases, you know they’re beating the living piss out of the car when they’re driving it, I mean what do they care.

Well, just my 2 cents…
A lot of pro thefts are with flatbeds or similar means. Once you get in, you can release the transmission via the emergency release at the front of the console and simply roll it.

All car thieves should face the the same punishment as 1800's horse thieves.

I used this on my old JK with success. And lock the hood, Hope they don't have blasters.

Glad you got your horse back. :)
That'll slow 'em down..........

I'd consider it a layer of protection. Throwing up wall after wall.
They'll get through some of them, possibly even that one, but after a time, they are likely to walk.

This video may have just moved me to get one now... i like these security features.
But the part I see where it's likely to get someone involved in a suit at some point is where, at 1:30, they say that they disable the vehicle "after it's driven a ways" or words to that effect.
That's the last thing you want - that can result in death and destruction if it is disabled in any way while it's being moved. It's akin to a booby trap. Someone is taking off in your vehicle and tries to make a quick turn through an intersection with a transport truck coming and suddenly the thing is locked up................
I hope I didn't hear him correctly, but I am pretty sure he said "after driving a ways" and that's just bad, wrong.
There's a reason that a thief is allowed to keep driving a vehicle until they shut it off if they don't have a fob - and that's for the safety of OTHER people, and the thief themselves. They may be stealing a vehicle, but it would be considered a trap.
Carjack mode - imagine, thief takes off with your car out of a parking lot, gets into a busy intersection and it DIES, (5:59) stops moving. Again, I can't see how they can do that without thinking of the safety of others. Nope - sorry, that thing should not move at all. Letting them cut into traffic before it's disabled is a disaster waiting to happen. I can't see why they are letting them drive away. I can just imagine - I'm stopped, or getting into my vehicle, not far from the parking lot exit, they take off and just hit the highway - vehicle stops cold.
In short, I'm fine with some of the features - some of the security, but not at all fine with the vehicle being moved at all before being disabled. That's wrong and there's a reason auto makers don't do things that way.

Someone steals your ride and drives away ... and the vehicle shuts off and an 18 Wheeler t-bones the driver side of the stolen jeep at 50 mph I would not lose a wink of sleep. I have no remorse for Criminals and especially thieves. If I install a device and get named in a wrongful death suit .. it is what it is.. I will deal with it when and if that happens....But the things I will be installing they wont make it out of my parking spot without a TOW TRUCK or another way which I will not discuss in a public forum.

Every single member of this group are good people, and everyone works hard to have the things we do. It boils my stomach acid that these car thieves in a couple of minutes or less can take your property we work hard for. Do that in other countries they cut your hands off. The criminal justice system in the US is a total failure and NOTHING that bad will happen to them if caught and they know this. ZERO CONSEQUENCES for their Actions. I should know all about this as I work in the Bail Bond Industry, and it just makes me sick how the Judges let so many of these repeat career criminals out over and over again...they know it's a game .. The Revolving Door of Justice .. and sadly its only going to get worse... Florida as of Jan 1, 2024 just established a Brand New Statewide (Every County Must Follow these Bond Amounts) Bail Bond Schedule now! It's horrible for my Bail Bond Business... I had a client this morning. Arrested for 2 Counts of Controlled Substance 1 count of Cannabis / Under 20 Grams / and Posn of Drug Paraphernalia (Scale). Up until DEC 31, 2023 These bonds would have been $5000 / $5000 / $1000 / $1000 .... now as of JAN 1st .. they are $2500 / $2500 / $500 / $500 ...so the 10% Collected last year 2023 would have been $1200 ... today .. I collected only $700, I lost $500 Bucks today due to this new Law... The Liberals that make these stupid Bail Reform Laws and Decisions I hope fall victims to the most serious crimes, so they can get a taste of their actions. this is the New FLORIDA Bail Bond Amounts prior to seeing the Judge. There are like 45 Charges (3RD Degree Felony) that now MUST SEE THE JUDGE prior to bonding out.. its a complete mess here in FL now with Bail. The criminals have it made now with even lower bonds... not to mention all the free programs they let them out on.
