I waited a few weeks after I first brought mine home, then put a dot right where the coolant level was at moderate outside temperatures after the truck had sat overnight.Mines a 22 with 26000 miles it’s at the low mark, no visible leaks or anything in oil maybe evaporation??? My engine temp is usually under 190
It will look lower in the winter and a bit higher in the heat of summer, but as long as it hangs around that mark I don't worry.
You might have to add a little after a couple of years, depending on your use - some may evaporate since these are not sealed systems - they must vent pressure and each time it gets warmed up some pressure will vent and take a teeny bit of vapor with it. Enough heating and cooling cycles, especially it it gets warm under load and it can mean a bit more.
However, we don't know what you mean by needing to add a little - how much is a little?
I figure after over 2 years, adding 8 ounces is nothing.
Sounds about right.I had to top off my coolant in 2021 and top off the powersteering fluid twice. The first time was right after I bought it and the second time was right after the dealer replaced the steering gear.
That can happen at any time - not just covid. And it's not uncommon to have to top fluids off after a few weeks. It's not really to do with covid per se, but purging out all air and so on after several heating/cooling cycles.I’m going to keep an eye after I fill to the full line. I’ve heard the jeeps in production during Covid times where coming to dealerships with low fluid levels, trans and coolant
Personally, I'd get it where it belongs, and mark and monitor it.
You live in CT - is it COLD there at all? Sure it is. If you are looking after it's been sitting overnight and the temps are say in the 20s - it's going to look a bit lower than when you looked at it and it was 70 outside.
This is after 15 months of ownership, about 15,000 miles ->
(I get fluids where I want them, with the truck cooled off and temps in the 60s-70s and mark things.)
