So my wife is coming home last night from a friend of my kids birthday party when she sent me this picture. Seems like a work truck dropped a tool bounced and went right through the bumper and messed up the grill. It definitely gave her a scare fortunately everyone was OK Because it could have been worse.

So I can’t leave it like this we barely had it three weeks. so it looks like I have to replace the entire frame of the grill but I’m not really finding it.

In looking for a replacement I am not sure exactly what part I need any help is appreciated.

If you have a link or part number please post it. I have a buddy who has a brand new angry looking grill that he said I could have but I’m not sure how I feel about that look.

I'd also at least get it quoted through a couple shops to see if they catch something you miss at first glance, and just let your insurance know what happened in case you decide to go through them.

One thing that jumps out to me is to make sure the fog light wires in the bumper didn't get damaged.

Wow. Hope no one was hurt, sorry for the truck, good luck on the fixes. Maybe encourage/remind the wife to give more room between her and the vehicles in front? If not, I see a lot of window replacements in your future.

Why not just let your insurance take care of it?
Well living in SW Florida where the insurance rates have jumped pretty severely over the past couple of years I would prefer not because I know it will increase my rates. Doesn’t seem to matter what the claim if they pay out anything they jump your rates. Combine that with my deductible and rate increase I will come out better taking care of myself. My agent said with all the uninsured folks and blue hairs down here it causes this area of the country to have one of the highest insurance rates around.

OP, sorry to see the damage to your new truck. There is more damaging junk on Florida roads than anywhere else I have ever been. It seems like it is getting worse, too.

She is actually a very defensive driver but she said that the truck cut right in front of her and before she could slow down they cut in front of another car and that’s when it fell out hit the road bounced up and got her. Things happen just glad nobody was hurt.

You should be able to find a takeoff front bumper for really cheap, people seem desperate to get rid of the plastic ones like yours when they upgrade. As someone else posted, the damaged grill trim piece should be cheap to replace, it can be removed from the grill assembly. The sport grills are "one-piece" where that piece isn't removable. The most expensive part would probably be painting the new grill trim piece and labor for assembling everything if you don't do it yourself.

There's a company called Distinction Applied that paints OEM grills for customers, may reach out to them via call/email to see if they could cut you a deal on getting just that part painted and shipped to you.

Thanks for the link this might be a really good option for me. You are also correct that the paint work is going to be the most expensive portion of the replacement. Which is why I am still debating on whether or not to just throw on the free grill my buddy is offering. I’m putting a new bumper with a hoop and a winch so maybe it’ll cover up most of it.

Sorry that happened to your new truck! :crying: But I'd be inclined to cut off the front, cut off the bit going towards the tire. Cap it with something, and leave it. It's a great story!!:LOL::clap:
