Yes I have a trailer brake system, and the jeep would get it's own. But I think I am going to talk to the manager at the dealer. You all were very gracious with your time and helping me. I really appreciate it!!

You get it :) I do have the F250 - its a beast but old. I guess I could put more money into it and wait on playing with the gladiator.
But it was good that you came here to find out about the scam your dealer pulled. Not everybody is thankful for the advice found on the forum.

They can't install "max tow package". I don't care what they said - even some dealers "don't get it".
For security -there are a half dozen threads talking of stolen Jeeps and adding security.

unless you go into other deeper options, all that's needed to bypass that is to remove the tazer - likely one of the first things a thief would do.
They have options for security that persists after removal of the tazer, but the basic pin is all but worthless.

The base sport with no bells or whistles won't have the wider axles or gear ratio, etc. so it's not possible to do more than add the receiver, which doesn't change much.

I said it in another thread - you guys need a better sales person. My guy knew the differences and even knew that ONLY as equipped from the factory would have those tow ratings and nothing else.
Heck, he knew that back in November October 2019 when I ordered my first JT. He knew the tow ratings of each, and more.
the Tazer justifies itself with other features. But I have and you can install a Tazer shield. Its a little steel box that holds the tazer and gets riveted to the steel behind your dash. the only way your getting it out is with power tools. You could cut the wires but you'll be in limp mode. Sure its not the latest and greatest. But with todays thieves, simply adding layers to the onion easily will dissuade many, like having a manual transmission. If the juice aint worth the squeeze they'll find an easier mark. Its the bear chase mentality, you don't have to be faster than the bear. just gotta be faster than the guy next to you.

If you can get a trade in or something on a Sport Max Tow, i think you'll be pretty happy with it. But i definitely agree others. I've towed well over 7500lbs with my gladiator. Its not fast or maneuverable. compound that with trying to run from a fire and you make make the whole situation worse for yourself. An old beater 7.3 f250 would much better serve you in that kind of pinch. Then again you may be one hell of an operator and you just need a truck rated for 7k and you got the rest. If thats the case, i stand by the sport max tow as your best bet.

yeah thats BS. what did they charge you for it?
It was a due bill... they did show me a price while working out the price of the jeep but I don't remember what it was. I wouldn't have bought it if it didn't have the max tow package.

Far from an operator I'm afraid!

For security you can install a kill switch. Here is a drop in one made for the gladiator.

Drop in KIll Switch for Gladiator
Ok with the kill switch, the tazer and a steering wheel lock, that should be enough to deter most... I hope. It has to live in the city in a few weeks for a week lol.

I can't find any gladiator that has a max tow package with a quick online search, they just have tow packages. So I would have to order one... I think I will see what they say, but odds are good I'm just going to ask for the upgrades per ecidiego.

850w cooling fan and 240a alternator, provided the N5 Z case fuse is 100a on the truck.

Thanks everyone!

When I bought mine I was looking for the Max Tow as well and I could only find one and I scheduled an appointment with the dealership to see it and when I got there they decided to send it off to have it fully customized that added $30K onto the price. Good luck on your search.

Oh I am super grateful! I could have been stuck on the side of the road with my horse. You may not realize how stressful and dangerous that can be - for the horse and for people in cars going by - if the horse gets loose somehow.

For a few, it does. I have never needed or wanted anything it does, though.
Everything I want or have done I've done with other means. (and much more cheaply - leaving me with tools that can do far more for other purposes)

I'd never recommend to anyone, especially a newbie, to make a tazer permanent. Bad idea. Sure, it's a great marketing thing, but in practice, not so much.

Even the folks who created and market the device say - unmarry and remove before dealer visits. It has been known to complicate things. Should it? Not necessarily. Can it? Yeah.

I won't give any dealer an excuse to either not do work, charge extra, or deny warranty.

But I understand the "tazer is god" thing. It's almost cult-like.
No human would ever say "I bought this but there are some drawbacks". It pretty much makes it look to others like maybe they are imperfect or could have made a better choice.
It's a good device, has it's purposes - but this "everyone NEED tazer, it's the best thing since Jeep and I can't understand why others aren't loving what I have" thing..............

There are cheaper ways to secure a vehicle, ways most thieves won't be able to get around. Remember, they break things to steal vehicles........ and are very aware of the CANbus connectors and other technology in a Jeep vehicle.
It's one method. But I'd never suggest making it permanent. That's asking for trouble just in case it happens to fault on you while on the road........... I'd want a way to rip it out and move on.

It's an option, but certainly not the only and I'd suggest maybe not even the best, unless you feel you "need" what it does.

Makes a great joke, but you'd be surprised as to how many young people know all about manual transmissions and love driving them.

51% of GenZ can drive a stick and more are wanting to learn.

Makes a great joke told by boomers on the internet, but holds little in real life.

So, you old folks - if you see the stick sticking around, maybe thank a GenZ person.
They are turning their backs on automation in some cases.

No, I purchased it on December 28 and they said they never received the due bill and that they had to order parts so it would be two weeks, then two weeks went by and well long story short, I just had it done February 5, so I didn't know what I didn't know.
