My goal was to reduce the resonance on as many of the flat sheets as possible without trying to get every single piece covered. I tapped around on the door to find anything that sounded ‘tinny’. I also put some on the inner liner plastic in a couple of the large flat areas. On the passenger side I also added a couple pieces to the inside of the outer shell. I concentrated on the large flat unobstructed areas.

The net result so far is a significant reduction in the hollow drum-like resonance. Tapping the outside of the door made a real change to the sound transmission and changed the tone. Now to do the front doors …
I worked in phases floors then doors… I noticed a huge difference with the door skins and as many videos that claimed this was easy… I found the removal to be kind of a pita…. Worth it though ??? next big one is the rear portion of the hard top.

A door stop wedge helped, so did a small wood clamp. - I did it solo, so just paranoid about the windows slamming down by accident. Extra set of hands for each door for maybe 1 minute would have been great ??.

Not really difficult other than maneuvering the inner skin out. And retrieving the socket I dropped while putting the glass back together. :headbang:

I am seriously considering taking my top out, priming it then painting with some kind of a sound deadening paint like plasti dip or an undercoating. If nothing else, at least I wont think im driving an Igloo Cooler.

@starrskream - Take a look at the Coverking thread here. Huge improvement in looks and sound. I think you’ll like it a lot better than plastidip/ undercoating. Plus you won’t have the off-gassing of that stuff in the cab with you. Even the 3M spray adhesive had some odor to it, though it burned off pretty quickly.

 My tester sits in the passenger seat and she seems impressed with the improvement. That’s as scientific and measurable as I’m going to get.

i have the mopar headliner in now, and the little parts that go inside the freedom panels. Its more for ascetics but if i was gonna paint it to cover up the white parts i can see i may as well use something thicker that kills some sound. Its honestly not that bad now. mostly dislike the igloo cooler look.

Started on the front doors today. Found MOPAR already put a sound deadener on the upper half of the skin above the brace.

I tried to find a part number but could only locate a production date. I decided to go ahead and apply another layer there and do the rest of the door.

Then I used the scraps for the inner and outer skins.

All doors now done. Next is the rear wall and floor like @caryt did, though I’m probably not going to be as good as he did.

The rigid material that was already in the front door is interesting because it appears to be some kind of fiberglass composite. Very rigid. The monkeys who put it in left several lumps in it rather than making it completely flat. Went over it again with the Siless anyway since I was there and have the materials.
