What’s work?
Mission if you choose to accept, Talk a woman (that I'm hitched to so I have to listen to gripes about the purchase years from now) that hates Jeeps (They're too boxy blah blah) into a 4 runner instead. She's wanting to lease but wants payments around $400 AND she hates the $4000 down.

Trading in her 2016 Cherokee that's got 93K miles and has been a bit of a shit box....
Mission Impossible here....

Anyone got ideas? Anything out there thats comparable to the 4 runner/Wrangler? Maybe I should look at Broncos?
The important question is that what she wants?

My CEO went through this too. She had WL and it was a massive sack of shit. I told her it goes or I do(not really or I’d be gone). She looked and settled on a Highlander. I just told her to call when there was something to sign

My wife (GF at the time) went through this recently. She was coming from a 2015 Forester and had ridden extensively in my 2 door JK and Gladiator. The JK, being short wheelbase, soft top, manual everything, wasn't her favorite and understandably so. She really loved my Gladiator though. We test drove 4Runner's, RAV4's, Wrangler's, Gladiator's, Honda's, Subaru's and a few others.

I vote for let her pick whatever she wants. I was dead set against Subaru, (still am) but I will admit the Forester we test drove looked relatively sharp with the wilderness package. Decent modification potential if y'all are into that. And was priced ~10k less than the other vehicles she was looking at.

That said, I'm glad she chose the Gladiator!!!

let her get whatever she wants/ likes. you have your toy, let her have one. she might end up with something you actually like too.
That is some sound advice. My wife ended up w/ a Bronco with I also have to come to really like.

I have purchased and still own way to many vehicles two of which are Subaru, an Outback and a Forester. The first was an Outback for my oldest to drive which has been handed down to his siblings as they have learned and started driving. He wanted another Subaru to replace that one and got the Forester Sport (pre Wilderness). The cars have, for the most part, been flawless in reliability. They are safe, get good fuel economy, practical, and not much fun to drive at all. They beep all the friggin time, try to "save" me from myself and drive me nuts while driving, especially around town. On the highway, not so bad.

I can't tell you to stay away from them. They are actually fairly good automobiles. I can say, I will never own one as my daily driver. I would rather drive it off a cliff or into a large rock or tree then have a car "drive" for me or continuously bitch at me while I drive.

Good luck in you search... I thought I would share.

YES EXACTLY. We went to a dealership today half hour before close. test drove Wilderness Outback. It was acceptable and the turbo was ok. Went inside for numbers and it was clear the sales manager didnt want to stay past close. He low balled the hell out of the trade in and wouldn't budge any on the numbers. We simply thanked the salesman for his time and left. Drove down to the Chevy dealership and drove a trax and Equinox. I like the equinox and price for the loaded one is very close to our budget. Salesman and sales manager were much better and we showed up there right before close for them.

Nice looking car. I was thinking that or a Honda CRV for my wife once her shit box Malibu hatchback dies (kind of a cool car though).

The new CRVs don’t have spare tires though. Dumb as hell.

Grand Cherokee. They constantly beat out other makes/models in snow and wintery weather, good safety numbers, etc.
My wife loved 'em for years - we had nothing but great luck with each of our Grand Cherokees, dating back to the ZJ through the WJ years through WK and WK2. Comfy, lots of space, reliable, really good mpg (she constantly got 24-25 mpg and around locally did even better)
We’ve had four GC’s and loved them. Seriously, check them out

Edit, I guess I was too late. Make sure you keep up on the oil changes on that car…

Yeah, I tried to get her to go that route but the cherokee she's been in ruined that. She's done with Jeep anything.......
I've still got my Gladiator so I can't really complain a lot. She's paying the bill for the Tucson, so I guess I'll just have to keep my opinions to myself......

New Bronco and the 4Runner are pretty cool. I think they are even more overpriced than the Gladiator when you get into the options. I’d love to have a bronco raptor but $100,000 is freaking ridiculous. I buy a used 911 turbo before I would buy that. I’d actually rather have a hellcat Durango or Cherokee over a bronco raptor.

Anyway, the new forerunner, Land Cruiser and Tacoma trucks are pretty awesome and probably more comfortable though less charming than a Jeep.
