Owner satisfaction is a 1/5 on the previous model years. Reliability hovers between 1-2/ 5
This right here was all I was asking for, provide some stats that can actually help someone make a decision.

Another set of reviews from JD Power, for what it's worth. I hardly consider myself a fanboy for the Renegade, I understand it's a compact econobox with above average off road chops for it's segment. Works fine for what my gf wants out of a daily driver with decent off-road systems to take on inclement weather and some light off-road trails.

CR is what it is, but JD Power is bought and paid for.

With each you need a grain of salt, but especially with JD Power.

Either way, any person who claims that a Fiat is a reliable automobile must be a comedian.

I don't need to prove something that is generally agreed upon.

Everyone is entitled to an opinion, but when people were disputing that the Renegade is a Fiat, because of tow hooks, or some other Jeep gimmick, that is when this got comical.

Fair enough and I agree everyone needs to compile research from multiple sites and reviews. keep in mind what other vehicles make their lists, yet here we all are buying them at record numbers.

My eyes are wide open with Jeep.

Knock on wood I've had no real issues.

Unrelated, related comment. A lot of modern reliability "dings" on these surveys have to do with usability of the vehicle and the infotainment.

If the screen is slow, or likes to reboot every now and then, the HVAC controls are confusing, the car could be given a low score in reliability.

These issues were bubbling up about 10 years ago, and caused chaos with some brands, especially Ford with their Sync system.

My brother is a GM of a Volvo dealership, and honestly, they are very reliable vehicles mechanically. They can have infotainment and computer glitches though. Which admittedly, out of warranty, means an expensive dealer repair bill.

And yet we’d all buy wranglers and gladiators, even if they were on Land Rover chassis. :)

More stats to prove my, "whoever recommended rebadging the 500x/l was a genius" statement.

47,000 Renegades sold in 2021.

1,300 or so 500X/L sold in 2021.

If the Chevrolet Silverado makes the #1 spot on this list, then I am not too scared at the other ones on it.

I'm not disputing the fact it's a rebadged (slightly upgraded) FIAT, I'm asking him to clarify the statements of it being "crap" on all fronts.

Do you guys also crap on challengers and chargers since their platforms are so old? They still sell like crazy.
Google Renegade reliability, you then will have the facts your asking for.
And not from Road and Track, JD Power or any other company.
Real owners.
Owner satisfaction and reliability.

Fair enough. I don't recall the OP saying his father did not want a Wrangler. But let's ask the OP...

@Orange01z28, what are the factors driving your father to want a Renegade? Is he adverse to looking at the Wrangler? As many have said, it seems to be an apples/oranges comparison and we're assuming you're looking for our opinions because you posted the thread in the first place...
The main factor is the overall shortness. Now that he’s 75 he wants to be able to drive it easily in the olive orchards he Turkey hunts in

he likes “real” Jeeps and had a CJ5 back in the day, I think perceived cost is why he’s looking at a Renegade instead of a Wrangler

I had the option of a renegade or a Pacifica minivan as a service loaner. I chose the Pacifica over the little shit box Renegade. That says a lot.

My wife drove a 2016 Renegade for 2.5 years and we had no issues with it.

Was easy to do oil changes. Only niggle was the use of lug studs for the wheels but after buying a set of alignment dowels, that was a non issue.

Cherokees use lug studs as well, at least our Trailhawk did. The small index bolt made it easy to do brake rotors though.

Where does a guy get a set of these Renegade wheel alignment dowels?
