Talked to two different local, reputable shops about lifting my 22 JT.
Both said I need the Rough Country 6" (part # 91250).
Both shops sell lifts from other manufacturers so they have no reason to push this one.

Reason I'm hesitant is because I know some local Jeep guys that are about as hardcore off-road as Jeep guys get....
They all unanimously said DO NOT use the Rough Country suspension systems.
These guys have offered different advice on which suspension I should go with but again are unanimous on not using the RC stuff.

I'm kinda torn between listening to shops I trust or listening to the off-road guys I also trust..
Anyone here using or have experience with Rough Country?

No to RC. Why do you need a 6” lift..?
I'm running Fuel Rincon wheels that have a gnarly offset and wanna go from 33's to 35x14.5s.
Both shops have said even with the 6" some 'trimming' will be needed.

Take those shops off the reputable shops list.

You have to add parts to any of the 6” RC lifts to make them work. Did either of the shops tell you that?

And that is a lot of lift. You could run 44s. A lift that tall is going to require more parts and money than a 3-4” lift that you could use to run up to 38s. Are you sure you want to go that tall?

Rough country is very much a "You get what you pay for" brand.

Their items tend to be janky/shoddy at minimum, or flat out dangerous. They may not fit right out of the box, or have some fairly obvious design short cuts.

You can get away with mechanically "simpler" items, but you very much are taking a risk the more complicated you get. My sister has a JK with their fenders w/ liners, and we had to work with the fitment. The metal liners are cut in an awkward way so she rubs pretty bad on heavy articulation. Her side marker LED's are on the cheap side, so I sleeved them with wire sleeve to try and protect them as they were just two exposed wires with no support.

I took a bit of a risk and bought their twin air compressor, but I don't use it very often, and I wouldn't be super surprised if it died if I worked it too hard. That's part of the reason why I tucked it under the seat vs an engine bay mount, trying to give it the best chance of surviving.

Since your suspension is part of what keeps you on the road, you really should consider spending more for a good quality lift from places like Metalcloak, Clayton off-road, Terraflex, etc.

Metalcloaks game changer setup is VERY nice, and worth the money. Get it done right the first time.

Sure seems like a wide tire for a 35. What kind of offset would you run with those ( to clear suspension) ?

I want to go with the least lift I can get away with because I don't off-road...
But I do have my heart set on the wider tires (35x14.5) with heavily offset wheels (-48).

Like I said, I won't be rock crawling but I do want enough clearance that I don't get into my fenders when I have to cross a ditch to get to the hotdog cart.

Ok, that’s a lot of negative offset. I see now why you might want a little more lift.

I wouldn’t do it with the RC lift as the starting point. There’s too much missing.

I had a 2.5 inch lift when I had Sport fender flares with my 35's. Had no issues. 17x9 with a +1 offset.

With your very wide offset, I'd say a 4.5 inch lift will work.

Damn, I'm running 40's on only a 3.5" lift and -38 offset wheels. Just had to trim the inner liners. Also the 6" R/C kit is very similar in height to other brands 4.5" lifts.
