Well gang, here’s my 2 days of ownership update after trading the Gladiator.

So 2000 KM on the grenadier since picking it up Monday. That was just the drive home.
The Gladiator has 285 HP, out of a well known V6. It feels slouchy, under powered, and the throttle curve was bad. After adding the banks pedal monster, the drive ability was better, but I still found the gladiator didn’t like 8th gear and was often cruising in 7th.
The other thing I didn’t like about my gladiator was the seating position and seat comfort. Otherwise the Gladiator was Great

the Ineos

The Seats are amazing. There’s no other way to say it. I just spent 17 hours in that seat and I’d get back in the Ineos and do it again right now. They are fantastic

the 3.0 B58 BMW Engine. What to say.
Tuned to 282 HP 331TQ. The gladiator feels like a complete slouch. Beside this 3L it climbs hills in 8th, doesn’t need to downshift 2 or 3 gears. The turbo spools up and the thing just caries on. If the gladiator had these engine manners I’d probably still be in my Gladiator. Jeep need to get the Hurricane engine in to the Gladiator. It’s plainly obvious the V6 is long in the tooth and just not competitive beside turbocharged mills. I really was hoping the 2024/25 Gladiator would be available with the Hurricane but that does not seem to be in the plan. So my gut tells me when the Ineos Quartermaster arrives The Gladiator will have tough competition.

I’ll keep everyone posted as the weeks progress

Meh. I paid 52k for a loaded Mojave in 2021. It’s no speed demon, but it’s a fun as heck truck that’s certainly no slouch if you know how to drive it, and my other vehicles are a Hellcat and an S2000. Just sayin. Also, the Mojave seats are fantastic. I’ve driven 10 hours straight in them up and down the east coast with nary a pain, and I’m 60. Glad you like your new ride. I’ll keep mine.

How did the dash and instrument layout feel? The grenadier is pretty different with how the dash is laid out going from memory. Seemed pretty cool to me. The only thing I didn't care for was that out of place shifter knob.

Local Ford dealership in Central CA coast has a few Raptor Broncos on lot with stickers of $126k.
Money is really just a number huh? 🤣

What’s going to happen to the economy when all the folks who paid 17 cents and a handshake for their house are gone?

Every 0-60 test I can find out there says the ineos is about a second slower than a stock gladiator...makes sense given how heavy the ineos is.

In a side by side the Gladiator may be faster down the 1/4 mile. But the gladiator has to downshift 3 gears and rev the piss out of itself to get up highway hill. The Grenadier just drives up the hill. No downshifting no sky high revs. Just smooth power delivery.

For what an Ineos costs, most would need a good bit more than that. I know that is one of the "better" bmw engines, but still bmw...yikes....good luck to you.

Thanks for sharing man! I've been waiting for your initial review. Sounds exactly like i was expecting. How you liking the ergonomics of the interior? And its quality? I've though about going Quartermaster instead of a HEMI swap on my Mojave and I don't think I'm cut out to be an early adopter. However I have yet to see a single complaint or issue with these since they launched. Also if ya don't mind cus I can't find it anywhere. What hardware did the put underneath? Dana axles? Toyota axles? gearing? Can it fit bigger tires? I'm assuming its 4 link + track bar front and rear too?

Its a co developed between Toyota/BMW engine paired to a ZF8 HP70 (a beefier version of the gladiator transmission, excluding the diesel 8HP75) I think its actually more robust and more reliable powertrain, off the line than most gladiators.

Doesn’t this thing start at like $80,000 though? That’s raptor or trx money.
can easily break 100k depending on your config.

Tell us a little more about the Gladiator you traded off. I'm having a little difficulty with your description of the Gladiator's performance. Did you have 35s on it with 3:73 gearing or something? I have a stock '22 Overland, and when I put my foot in it, compared to my '16 Wrangler, it roars. It seldom downshifts (and we have some pretty significant hills.) I'm just not seeing what you're reporting in mine, so I'd like to understand what was happening in yours.

And the stock seats in MY JT are the most comfortable I've ever had in a Jeep. And my Jeep experience goes back to driving a 1971 CJ-5 hardtop in the Navy... before I ever bought my first '79 CJ-7.

Thanks!

Rubicon 4:10, 35’s the description is what I didn’t like. “When I put my foot in it” that’s what I didn’t like about the gladiator, you had to drive your foot in it for every single hill. Any long moderately steep grade your foot keeps having to find more pedal. The Grenadier just climbs, no adjusting your foot, no pushing the pedal down 2/3 of the way. It’s just a much better power delivery.
