Be careful buying used Gladiator parts

The mods/admin can/will ban someone who never even posts in the public forums areas but only sends PMs offering to sell, or places an ad that goes against the rules.
I've reported at least two people who contacted me with offers to sell something, and I couldn't find a single public post from them (and the offers were easy for me to spot - it smells of rotted whale meat, although I have to ask Russ what that smells like)

A few days ago and within 24hrs. Two members PMed me asking for helps with wiring a rubi swaybar disconnect through a relay. One is from Poland with zero post, and second one is from Texas also with zero post, but had joined this forum since 2017. The questions sounds legit and reasonable but I won't even gonna respond. It's just too coincidence imo

Well, apparently I was scammed by a member (or stolen account of a member?) as he promised shipping info today and I logged in to see that he has been banned :-(

20+ years of buying stuff on line and this is the first time, shame my lessen in trust cost me $1500. The listing offered local pick up and the apparent lie that he was a Marine (I'm retired USAF) set me at ease. Shame on me...

I'll file a police report and provide them his banking info as well as provide his bank a copy of the police report. Nothing will come of it...

Anyway, just hoping my loss will be a cautionary tale and maybe save someone else from being ripped off.

Man that totally sucks guy. I just put a full metalcloak on my rubicon Eco diesel. Have all the factory components still. Will totally be willing to make you a great price should you get your money back. West coast located Northern Nevada.

If you live long enough you are going to get screwed by someone. Happens to us all, whether or not we admit it to others. Other than ebay, I don't buy from any site other than reputable vendors. Just not worth a few bucks savings. Don't write off the police on this too quickly, sometimes they can help...............sometimes. Good luck to you.

This is absolutely true. Pay attention to where you buy. And be very careful about Craigslist. Never pay up front to an individual without some kind of references.

Though I am a former Military member I would never use that as a reference. I am skeptical of those who advertise they are a ‘Christian’ also. If a vender has to advertise their preferences they likely are not.

I believe I nearly got scammed recently in the very same manner. I kept getting a "bad feeling about this" and so held off sending dollars. I researched and was only willing to send money via Paypal Goods and Services (which the person objected to doing, for the obvious reasons). Even then, I still held back. Hate that it has to be that untrusting.

Yeah, if a seller will not accept PP Goods and Services payment even if I offer to cover the fees, good indicator to avoid.
