Hello to all! This my be posted in the wrong place but I wanted to share my experience while driving a Wagoneer equipt with the base 3.0 Hurricane. I recently drove a 2024 Wagoneer over 400 miles with the 420 horsepower and 468 torque rated 3.0 Hurricane. I can only wish that it will be available in the Gladiator....the sooner the better! In a mix of highway and rural driving in Tennessee and Kentucky I averaged 25.2 mpg. The power delivery was awesome. The torque was excellent and hills required no downshift. I hope that it is offered in the Gladiator. I was planning on keeping this one but I would definitely be a buyer if it ever happens.

I was just digging into the upcoming Ram RHO with the HO Hurricane. C&D and MT both were very complimentary. If it can haul the leviathan Wagoneer around efficiently I'd love to see what it could do in the nearly half ton lighter JT.

And the standard Hurricane is getting good marks. Only a matter of time before the I6 migrates to the JLU/JT.

Would definitely allow the full potential of the gladiator to shine. I think Jeep knocked it out of the park with the design of the platform.

The potential has been held back to date by the base powertrain being a fairly small displacement naturally aspirated v6.

3.0L Hurricane puts Gladiator and Wrangler for that matter firmly into the ring/fight with all comers.

Keep wishing and dreaming. The debacle with the Ecodiesel has shown that the current design just can't extract enough heat. Until the next redesign of the front end, the V6 is very likely the only engine option the Gladiator will have.

Hopefully the engine don't wind up like the new Taco 4 banger turbo's. There proven POS. Turbo's wear your engine out faster. My opinion only plus most mechanics , who needs 400 Hp on a Jeep. Also the new Toyo Thundra with the V6 turbo , another POS, there blowing up at a good rate. I'll stick with the V6 in the Glad , and hope it last. My 2 cents.

I want to see how durable the engine proves to be, first. To me, reliability is the #1 feature I look for in a powerplant.

I agree with this. I'm leery of twin turbos. I was looking at the Lexus GX 550 and noticed that they may have significant problems with bearing failures. If not catastrophic failures, I worry about longevity.

I recently sold my 2017 AMG GLC 43 which had a six-cylinder twin turbo. Great HP but after a few years I was getting what smelled like coolant leaking. They replaced a bunch of parts under warranty and there was no l visible coolant loss, but I became concerned something was going to fail, particularly if the turbos didn't get enough cooling.

I also watched a video of how complex these engines have become so repairs would costly. I'll wait and see how they hold up over time before considering these engines.

It's weird, on this forum there seems to be a lot of dislike for the 3.6. People are worried about longevity. Cams, lifters, heard, etc. I work for a small police department that has a 12 police pursuit chargers with the 3.6 and the average mileage is approximately 150,000 plus 9,000 idle hours. Fleet maintenance says idle hours equivalent to driving 20 miles. So 150k plus 180k is 330,000 miles of often abuse given the nature of there use. We have only replaced cylinder heads on the 2013/2014 and all under warranty. Engine oil coolers, cooling fans, radiator and thermostat are the primary maintenance items. This on a v6 that in this vehicle in a slick top will do 135 plus mph. I think from experience that it is a dependable engine and I trust it. Internet fodder makes it seem like junk. It's big drawback for me is the lack of low and midrange torque. So that is why I wish and hope that the Hurricane will come in the Gladiator. I appreciate all the comments but they seem to be negative. Why? I drove a heavy vehicle with the aerodynamics of a barn. I toggled through all information available as far as coolant temp, oil temp, trans temp, oil pressure etc. It was all virtually identical to my Gladiator with the difference being gobs of low and midrange torque and lots of available horsepower. Everyone has a right to there opinion. I base my opinion of experience. I am 62 years old started turning wrenches in 1971. I have owned virtually every classic muscle car as well as all of the modern ones. The fastest, most durable and efficient was a lowly turbocharged 1987 Buick Grand National. With larger intercooler, fuel pump, injectors and single turbo ran the 1/8 in 7 flat at 120 mph. I had a 2016 Charger Hellcat that couldn't hold a candle to it. I for one will be the first in line to be one if or when it happens.

Sorry for the above long rant. All of the negativity on BOTH engines is undeserving. Adding a turbo to a normally aspirated can lead to disaster. An engine designed for a turbo application is designed and built for it. The Hurricane will find it's way in to my hands, even if it is in a new a Charger.

Going from a built Ram TRX to a Gladiator, I needed a little adjustment period to get use to how long it took pulling out in traffic or passing someone however I feel like the 3.6 is a decent engine. This is my fourth 3.6 that has come through my fleet, my wife had a '17 Wrangler, '18 GC and '23 GCL, I feel like they have been good, reliable engines. Decent mpg and decent power. My wife currently has a '22 Wrangler with the 2.0 Turbo. Honestly, I was worried about it at first because we have had such good luck with the 3.6s however it has been a reliable and quick engine so far with better MPG than the 3.6. I wouldn't mind seeing it in a Gladiator IF the 3.0 Hurricane doesn't end up making it in to the Gladiator. I just worry that they will soldier on with the 3.6, let the Gladiator die and that will be all she wrote come 2028.

I have not driven a TRX. Owned a Charger Hellcat, Charger Daytona 392, Challenger Scat Pac Shaker and a 2019 Ram 2500 with the 6.4 Hemi. I really liked them all. I have owned 2 Cummins and 1 Power stroke and I liked the 6.4 better. As another comparison I owned a 3.5 Ecoboost and a 5.0 in F150 Super Crew 4x4 trucks. The Ecoboost was far superior in every way with the exception of exhaust sound at wide open throttle. The 5.0 won there. The Ecoboost was to me like a silent diesel in power delivery. Exactly what I am hoping for with the Hurricane.

The 3.5 and the 5.0 are side by side at 1/4 mile.

My Ecoboost had 3.73 and my 5.0 had 3.31 years. So not equal in that respect. The torque delivery was lacking in my 5.0, maybe because of the gear. However the fastest 0 to 100 mph vehicle ever tested by the Michigan State Police is the Ecoboost F150 Responder truck. It is available with the 5.0 as well, but it is slower. My 5.0 with 34.5 tires lost 4 mpg and performance suffered. My Ecoboost with the same lost 1-2 mpg and lost little performance. In most applications based on experience..not what a I read, torque is king.

I have driven the 2.0 Turbo in the Wrangler Unlimited and I was impressed with the power delivery and the smoothness. Much like I was with the Hurricane

Well then I would definitely trade in my current Gladiator if they do end up getting a 3.0 Hurricane! Otherwise I feel like the Gladiator is the perfect truck as far as size and capabilities go, just needs a bit more power. I have tried to help it in that sense with an air intake, y pipe, exhaust and pulsar but it is just not quite there even with those.
