I have a 2020 Rubicon that is coming up on 5 years old with 38k miles. The majority of these miles have been pulling a 4500lb trailer and 4wheeling, so the suspension gets used. On a recent road trip, the truck started swaying side to side like it didn't have sway bars. The family enjoyed the rocking boat ride until we got to our destination where I could have a dealer look at it. This first dealer thought it was the shocks, so they swapped in new shocks and sent me on my way. The advisor told me he didn't think that fixed it and that the springs needed to be replaced, but I explained that it was time to head home so I'd deal with it once home.

Long story short, it was the springs (longer story trying to get my regular dealer to actually replace them, but I'll save that).

For those who tow and/or wheel regularly, something to keep in mind if you start feeling a loose suspension.

First time for me.

No sagging that I noticed.

Subscribing, it would be weird that they are that fatigued at that low miles..

I replaced the front springs on a stock JK after 200K miles and it made a big difference - I was shocked. It's possible towing did them in.

I had a set of TF front springs that couldn't handle the 75lb bumper and JCR rock rails, as I removed parts things got better,

Toyota 4runner, rear springs were sitting on the bump stops, but it had 200K on it, upper/lower arms springs and shocks turned it into a new truck,

If you want to lift it, I’ll gift you some 3” lift springs. The rears were only used for 500 miles. The fronts have 36k miles, so aren’t new, but would work great for a mostly stock setup. If you want them, they’re yours.

Edit: I’m in Silverthorne, so very close to you.

Very much appreciated the offer, but no plans to lift.
