How to lock down factory roller cover?

hey all!! I am going on a road trip and will have some items in the bed. I know its difficult to completely lock down the factory roller cover but, I would like to secure it so its not so easy to open. Anyone have any thoughts or have done something similar? I am just trying to make a little difficult to open rather then just flipping up the cover and pulling the red straps and having full access.
I have a few ideas on how to but, with all the great minds on this forum someone else might have already come up with something that works!

I have thought about this myself as I also have the factory roll up tonneau.
One idea I has was to cut a piece of plywood, install 4 legs (or secure it to the trail rail in somehow) on it and have it sit just below the cover.
If someone where to open the tonneau, they would be looking at plywood.

This is just a spit ball idea. I have not tried to implement.

A couple great ideas in those other threads.
The plywood idea was more if someone sliced the tonneau to gain access.
I am not sure how many people know how the tonneau cover flips open to gain access the to release straps.

I was just on a river trip with a big group and they asked about locking my Tonneau (factory). I told them wellllll no, we can't. But I said let me lock it and you tell me what you think. So I locked the truck and said open it. All of them tried and said "its locked."

WE all know that you just need a little more thumb force to flip that thing up, but a random person will not. A thief is probably more likely to cut it with a knife...

Some stainless clips, stainless cable from Home Depot, a crimp kit from Home Depot and a cheap set of crimpers to put it all together. Cheap, easy, effective.

how did it turn out? I like how there isn’t much on the cover itself so it doesn’t get in the way of rolling it up and you can choose a color of strap to match your mood. I did choose stainless hoops to minimize corrosion.

Thanks for the ideas guys. I've looked at many of the same ones, but never pulled the trigger on anything. I have been using very tight rubber tarp straps or some of those gorilla ties that are wire wrapped in foam. Both work so well I never moved on. But agree that with something holding the back down tight it will keep those just looking around out. Can't see anything not worth cutting it open to find nothing.

It's less likely, but someone still might, especially in larger cities.

For sure!! Or parked outside overnight in a poorly lit area or even a nicely lit area with no action around.

I tend to leave it unlocked unless there's a reason to lock it. A lot of the time I will leave it entirely open to show there's nothing in the bed at all, especially in a dodgy area.
