Funny...this thread started the same day JD Power named the Nissan Frontier the best mid-sized truck.

I love my JT and have had zero issues compared to others but there's no way in hell it's actually most reliable. Oh well, we take the good with the bad and annoying!
Had a nissian Frontier befor I had my gladiator, did like driving that truck but unless they made significant advances in reliability I would have to disagree on it reliability. I could not get my fuse pack on the battery from blowing out, for years I fought that. Took it t9 the dealership once for warranty work and when they opened the hood the service guy came and got me to take me to my truck. Pointed at the battery and said that ain't right you can't run it like that (I had jump wires going around the fuse) I said I agree but at 40 a pop for replace I am get tired of spending that money. They replaced some cables said it is good now, it wasn't but what ever. There is not a manufacturer out there that doesn't produce a problem child here and there. My experience is that people that drive a foreign car have a perceived better reliability than domestic and even when there are problems they simply don't get near as negative as domestic owners.

I have had 4 gen 2 Frontiers; never had a problem til I hit a deer with my last one. It was a Pro4X and was awesome til that point. I traded it on my Gladiator because it was just not the same anymore.

When I first bought mine, the Carfax and dealer record showed only maintenance and a replaced windshield in 35k miles. The aux battery failed at the 3 year mark, which is normal. So that's again a maintenance issue. I've had zero problems in the 15k miles I've owned it. I replaced the tires, and everything else has been maintenance.

My brother had a 2020 that he ran really hard for about 30k miles. He had a check engine light that was reset and that's it. No other issues.

My 2018 JL has had no issues beyond a recall for the steering stabilizer and the clutch recalls, although mine has been great. 96,000 miles now. I did replace the aluminum steering box under a tsb, but it wasn't showing a problem.

So with those three Jeeps, reliability, quality, and dependability have been nearly perfect. So I don't find this hard to believe.

The Pentastar happens to have the lowest warranty claim rate of any mass produced V6 that it has competed with during its production run. That's impressive and indicates high reliability. That's why they've made around 14 million of them and it continues to live on. It's made (saved) them a shit ton of money and is the envy of the industry in that regard.

The low cost of repairs and maintenance on the Gladiator makes up for the initial cost to purchase and fuel it. Oil changes are super cheap (one 5 quart jug) and tires last a long time with solid axles. Spark plugs are $10 each and swap out at 100k, although a good friend ran his 2015 Pentastar to 214,000 miles on the original plugs. Yikes! I've bought OEM equivalent air filters for under 20 bucks. Gear oil and ATF+4 for the transfer case are cheap and easy to do yourself, too.

I intend to keep mine a long, long time. Judging by my JL, I expect it to be reliable and VERY long lasting.

It seems Consumer Reports changed their story on the Gladiator. Sorry for linking Motor Biscuit. I can’t read the actual Consumer Reports page because I don’t pay for their garbage.

My 2023 Mojave has been the most reliable jeep i’ve owned(had two JKs before). Crossing fingers, it keeps on trucking reliably.

Ditto, same with my Mojave. My previous JK was really good as well but so far the Mojave has been flawless. Coming up on 2 years soon….

I've just passed year 3 on my 21 willys

Rear axle replaced under warranty for leaking seal maybe 18 month ago. My awesome dealer did it in a few hours on a Saturday even drove me home and picked me up when it was done, maybe 20miles each way. Zero issues otherwise. None. Almost 40k miles. Daily drive, plus long road trips, and towing a camper probably 6k of those miles.
Routine service is easy and pretty cheap too. Happy customer here

After a year of ownership, my Gladiator has been the most reliable vehicle I've owned. Zero issues, no trips to the dealership..couldn't say that about the Toyotas and Hondas I've owned

Experiences vary.

You got a whole new axle or just the leaking seal assembly? Mine is leaking for the second time in 60k miles.

Whole axle replaced. Less labor involved and therefore cheaper overall for them is my understanding

50 k miles and going strong

I had a 4x4 shop replace my axle seal while I was getting it regeared and he got Jeep to reimburse him under warranty so I never paid and don’t know what it cost. The gear change labor was $600. He already had it apart so not much additional labor. Of course, once you regear, the dealer axle swap is off the table.

I hope my ’24 Gladiator is a reliable as the 2017 F150 FX4 SCrew 5.0 I traded for it. Only thing I replaced on it was the steering wheel clock spring for $80 off Rock Auto at 110,000

Nice to hear although I have doubts ...

In any event it was posted by Motorbiscuit which is basically a group of marketing interns swilling starbucks and crunching granola in a loft office sitting on bouncy balls between yoga sessions behind two N95 masks ...

They generally report on other published reports or comment on other peoples comments ...

Consumer reports publishes an article and then they review the review ... Meh not for me ...

But I digress ...

This does not really make a ton of sense as the wrangler rates way lower ... Arent they based mostly on the same components and technologies ? How can one get 99 and the other get xx ?
I'm thinking many factors. One was it was early years when it was the hot thing, new different and everyone was excited including the workers putting it together, proud of their product. The Wrangler? Meh...been building them forever.... Yawn... And, freshly trained production workers, new machines, emphasis on quality to compensate for first year blues of most cars. Things like that would be my guess...
