I'll be installing an AEV spacer lift soon, so I'm researching the various options. My question is in regards to the various geo brackets.
If they're so important to a good ride, why don't any of the manufacturers of 2-2.5" lifts (including Mopar!) include them in their kits?
Thanks in advance!

Mixed opinions on brackets. Some swear by them, others don't think they need them or want to give up a little clearance for them.

I don't run them with my 2.5" lift. I could since it's just a street rig. I don't see the need for them on a short lift that already drives perfectly fine.

With my steel bumpers, winch, and extra armor underneath, I'm pretty sure the AEV spacers will not be giving me 2" above stock. That's the minimum height listed for the Rancho brackets....

Just put the AEV lift and the slightly longer mopar LCAs on my Mojave.....if it wasn't harder to get in and out of, I couldn't tell I got a lift. Also I don't like the idea you can see the brackets from the side...looks bad.

Any issues with ride or steering?

I recently put my own lift kit together using mostly metal cloak parts. I've only gotten as far as making a list of parts. but those drop brackets are on the list. I will be installing everything else first. Then ill check all of my angels to see if the drop brackets will be a necessity. Currently I'm just using spacers.

Which AEV lift did you get?

Usually the majority of the people who are na sayers have not tried them on a JL or JT and don't know for sure how good good can be as far as far as actual driving experience. Usually those who like them have had a real comparison. For what a Gladiator cost I want it to drive best where it is used mostly . If its mostly an offroad toy thats a different animal and doubt they would be a big deal there either but to each his own . I say try them and see if they are right for you . If not obviously there is a market to sell them ,sell them . Don't know unless ya try . .

But again, why don't any of the lift manufacturers think the brackets are a necessity for a 2" lift?

Because they aren't necessary? My steering is better than stock with out brackets thanks to other upgrades. Brackets get the control arms flatter for a bit less transmission of bumps in to the cabin but aren't the only way to have excellent steering or ride. Could it be better with brackets? Probably but if it's already good enough there are other things I can spend money on.

Brackets are a cheap way to get a spacer lift to ride and drive close to stock. I used them on a JK and they were great there as it was a purely cosmetic lift we were going for. On my JT I was swapping basically the whole front end , shocks arms etc so brackets weren't necessary for my size lift.

If brackets are included then the price increases. Most folks are very cost averse.

As has been said by others, brackets are not ‘required’ per se. I have the AEV spacer lift and opted to get the brackets to address (potential) caster issues. I’m very happy with the way the truck rides with the lift and brackets. For the money it seemed like a no-brainer to me.

AEV and JKS both include geo brackets on their 2.5" lifts. In several suspension shootout style reviews many say the AEV 2.5" kit has the best ride. In my opinion that is directly because of the brackets. Just added the evo geo brackets to my mojave with 2" AEV spacer lift. The ride is noticeably smoother over bumps. No they aren't necessary, but flatter arms will always ride better than more angled ones. When the tire encounters a bump or a pothole that force is supposed to transfer vertically into the spring and shock where it can be absorbed. The more angled your control arms, the higher percentage of that force is now transferred horizontally through the arms and into the frame. At just 2" is not bad. At 4" or more the ride difference is night and day. Being that my mojave is mostly used off roading at speed in the desert I'll gladly give up a little clearance to gain better bump absorption. The triangulated 4 link on the rear smoothed out the ride even further and I couldn't be happier with the mojave suspension at this point.
